PUBLIC SPORTS AND CONVENTION

CENTRE

SPORTS CENTRE
- a building where you can play different sports.

CONVENTION CENTRE
- is a large building that is designed to hold a convention, where individuals and groups
gather to promote and share common interests. Convention centers typically offer
sufficient floor area to accommodate several thousand attendees. Very large venues,
suitable for major trade shows, are sometimes known as exhibition centers. Convention
centers typically have at least one auditorium and may also contain on concert
halls, lecture halls, meeting rooms, and conference rooms. Some large resort
area hotels include a convention center.

VISION:
Sports venues and convention centers can activate communities, generate revenue, and
catalyze urban and campus revitalization as regional destinations.

DESIGN AND PLANNING CONSIDERATIONS:

 Parking Area for the buildings
The site proposes 738 parking slots, which are available for both private and public use.
These parking spaces are usually acceptable for daily activities at the proposed facility.
For larger events, the Dalauidao and Castillo streets near the proposed facility should be
more than sufficient to accommodate larger parking slots or spaces. In general, it would
be very expensive and probably not feasible to provide on-site structural parking on the
proposed site like basement parking areas and other parking facilities that is mainly used
for parking only.
 Building height
General institutional - a community to National level of institutional use or Characterized mainly
as low rise or medium rise structure for educational and training and related activities should at
least be only 2-4 storey s only or at least 10 - 12 mtr high.
 Zoning classification according to National Building Code:
Cultural - a COMMUNITY to national level mainly as low to medium rise building for cultural
activities
PRE (Park Structures, Recreation and Entertainment)
Division I1 - Sports center

SPORTS ACTIVITIES IN THE SPORTS CENTER
(AQUATIC SPORTS AREA)
 OLYMPIC SIZE SWIMMING POOL FOR RELAY AND FREESTYLE

An Olympic-size swimming pool conforms to regulated dimensions, large enough for international
competition. This type of swimming pool is used in the Olympic Games, where the race course is
50 metres (164.0 ft) in length, typically referred to as "long course", distinguishing it from "short
course" which applies to competitions in pools that are 25 metres (82.0 ft) in length. If touch
panels are used in competition, then the distance between touch panels should be either 25 or 50
metres to qualify for FINA recognition. This means that Olympic pools are generally oversized, to
accommodate touch panels used in competition.
An Olympic-size swimming pool is used as a colloquial unit of volume, to make approximate
comparisons to similarly sized objects or volumes. It is not a specific definition, as there is no
official limit on the depth of an Olympic pool. The value has an order of magnitude of 1 megaliter
(ML).

Physical property Specified value

Length 50 m [2]
Width 25.0 m[2]
Depth 2.0 m (6 ft 7 in) minimum, 3.0 m (9 ft 10 in)
Number of lanes 10
Lane width 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in)

Assuming a nominal depth 2 m. about 2 acre-feet o
2,500 m3 (88,000 cu ft) in cubic units.
-There must be two spaces 2.5 m (8 ft 2 in) wide outside lanes 1 and 8 (in effect, two empty
lanes). The length of 50 metres (164 ft) must be between the touch pads at the end of each lane,
if they are used.If starting blocks are used, then there must be a minimum depth of 1.35 metres
(4.4 ft) from between 1.0 metre (3 ft) from the end of the pool to at least 6.0 metres (20 ft) from
the end of the pool. At all other points, the minimum depth is 1.0 metre (3 ft). If the pool is used
for Olympic Games or World Championships, then the minimum depth is increased to 2.0 metres
