continued to work until they got the ideal one.

They proved that herbal plants are the most effective way in healing diseases such as

muscle pains because, it is organic and it has no side effects compared to the pharmaceuticals

now.

II – Introduction

a) Background of the study

Muscle pains are familiar to us, especially in adults. This because, of hard work and

employment. If this minor disease can’t be treated, it will bring us to inflammation, such as

poliomyelitis.

b) Statement of the problem

The researchers planned this matter to rise up again the old folks such as the sambong,

ginger, and the cayenne to remind also the people that herbal plants are the basic form of healing

illness. On the other hand the researchers would also like to use those herbal plants as herbal

liniment to help those people to whom are stressed to their work which results to muscle pains,

scrams, headache, colds, allergies and etc.

liniment has no side effects because as it is organic.

This liniment can also be a source of livelihood, too. Because if you are just staying inside

your house and no work to be done you can easily make a liniment by just following instructions.

With this product you can sell it and earn money to sustain the needed of your family in your

daily lives.

However, it is effective that people may guarantee and they can also ensure that

consumers will be cured and will be safe because its materials are coming from herbal plants.

With the use of this herbal liniment, they can lessen the pain that they feel. They can no longer

feel the uneasiness and also this herbal liniment has no side effects because it is organic.

III. Review and literature and Conceptual Framework

a.) Related literature

Blumea balsamifera is used as an herbal treatment for the common cold and as a diuretic in

the Philippines medicine, commonly known as SAMBONG.

The figure shows the relationship between the independent variable and dependent
variable.
c) Hypothesis
The efficiency of the product as a liniment depends on the kind of herbal plants and
its chemical composition.
 The more sambong leaf extract are used, the more healing strength will be

offered by it.

 If the sambong extract are added with other indigenous herbal plants, then, the

liniment produced will be more effective.

IV – Methodology

Materials:

 Test tube

 Test tube holder

 Drainer

 Mortar
 Boiling pot

 Clean clothes

 Jars

In making the herbal liniment:

Get the ingredients:

o Ginger

o Gabon

 Crush the Gabon and ginger and get their extract then boil.

 Drain the extract to make sure that there was no left crushed ginger

 Add siling labuyo

 Mix and Place in a container and let it cool.

V - TRIALS CONDUCTED

Trial 1

Get the ingredients

- Ginger

- Gabon

 Get the extract of the Gabon by squeezing it.

 Crush the ginger and get it’s extract

 Mix the substance and let it cool down

Unfortunately trial 1, has failed. It was stored for 2-3 days but it produces a foul odor.

Consumers would like to use it and apply it to their skin, they will have a stinky skin.

Trial 2

Get the ingredients

- Ginger
- Gabon

 Boil the gabon and get the extract.

 Crush the ginger , boil and it and get it’s extract

 Mix the substance and let it cool down

Trial 2, has also failed. The substance didn’t mix. The ginger extract was floating but still

the researchers will find ways to be able to achieve their goals.

Trial 3

Get the ingredients

- Ginger

- Gabon

 Boil the Gabon(leaves) after boiling get it’s leaves then place the crush ginger

 Drain the extract to make sure that there was no left crushed ginger

 Place in a container

 Let it cool.

Trial 3, worked but still there should be more improvement. We still need a lot of gabon

to make it more green and more ginger to make it more soothing when it is applied to the skin.

So, we will be increasing the number of gabon and ginger and lessen the water (used for boiling).

Trial 4

Get the ingredients

- Ginger

- Gabon

 Place the gabon in the pot without putting water let it boil with its own fluid.

 Place the ginger in the pot without putting water.

 Get the extract and mix

 Let it cool down

Trial 4 has failed; the mixture was so sticky and instead of aiming to look like a liniment

but it looks like a lubricant. But despite what happened the proponents will still find some

alternatives to reach their objectives.

Trial 5

 Get the ingredients

 Crush the Gabon and ginger and get their extract then boil.

 Drain the extract to make sure that there was no left crushed ginger

 Add siling labuyo

 Mix and Place in a container and let it cool.

On our trial 5, at last it was succeeded. It’s not that sticky and it’s very effective. It has

soothing feeling when applied to the skin, and this time it is a lot greener.

The table shows the qualitative data of the proponent’s experiment. Trial 1 and 2 had

failed because of its stinky odor while Trial 3 is nearer to what they’ve expected. So, they found

ways in solving those problems. They tried their planned ideas in Trial 4 but it doesn’t work.

Fortunately, in Trial 5, it was not stinky when it will be applied to our skin.

VII – Recommendation

The researchers recommend to use sambong leaves which are newly sprout, baby ginger

and cayenne (it could be ripe or not) so that the liniment could contain the necessary minerals.

The proponents would also recommend using many sambong than the number of ginger and

cayenne.

In conducting the procedure, it’s better to boil the mixture with the desired time, two to

five minutes as long as the concoction looks frost green.

You can do this experiment at home or at the laboratory. But it’s better to be at the

laboratory for you to use appropriate apparatus.

VIII – Conclusion

The researchers concluded that blumea balsamifera (sambong) and along with other

indigenous plants like: zingeber officinale (ginger) and capsicum fastigiatum blume (cayenne) are

effective to use as an herbal linim. Blumea balsamifera is one of the herbal plants here in the

Philippines and approved by the PDOH (Philippine Department of Health) as an alternative

medicine in treating particular disorders and it has been found that sambong use to be an santi-

diarrhea and anti-spasm.
