ACTUAL RESULT: no change of color

REMARKS:

Gmelin's test is a chemical test used for detecting the presence of bile pigments in urine. The actual
result yields a negative result with no change of color. we only placed 2mL of concentrated nitric acid
because yellow nitrous acid is unavailable. Nitrous acid in mildly acid solution reacts with sodium
bisulfite very readily, generating a yellow-coloured solution believed to contain the nitrososulfonic acid
anion. green, blue, violet , red ,yellow rings are seen if bilirubin is present.
