each size 4 and 4,5 mm (US 6 and 7), 1 set (5)
double-pointed needle (dpn) size 4 mm (US 6).
Hat: 50 g color #00214 jeans heather, from
Milward 1 set (5) each sizes 4 and 4,5 mm (US
6 and 7).
K2, P2 Rib: *K2, P2; rep from *. On all following
rows, k the knit sts and p the purl sts.
St st: In rows, K on RS rows, P on WS rows; in
rounds, K every rnd.
Raglan Dec Row (RS): K1, SKP (slip 1 st, K1,
pass slip st over K1), knit to last 3 sts, K2tog, K1.
Box Pattern: Multiple of 4 sts + 2.
Row 1 (RS): K1, *P1, K2, P1; rep from *, end K1.
Rows 2 to 4: K the knit sts and P the purl sts.
Row 5: K1 *K1, P2, K1; rep from *,
end K1.
Rows 6 to 8: K the knit sts and P the purl sts.
Rep Rows 1 to 8 for Box Pat.

Gauge: 20 sts and 26 rows = 10 x 10 cm/4 x 4”
over St st using larger needles. Take time to check
gauge.
INSTRUCTIONS
PULLOVER
Back: With smaller needles, cast on 66 (74, 82,
90) sts and work in K2, P2 Rib for 4 cm/1½”.
Change to larger needles and work in Box Pat
until piece measures 24 (26, 28, 30) cm/9½ (10½,
11, 12)” [62 (68, 74, 78) rows] above rib.
Raglan Armhole Shaping: Bind off
1 (1, 2, 2) sts at beg of next 2 rows
= 64 (72, 78, 86) sts. Work Raglan Dec Row every
4th row 1 (2, 3, 3) times, then every 2nd row 19
(20, 20, 22) times.
When Back measures 44 (48, 52,
56) cm/17 ½ (19, 20½, 22)” from
cast-on edge, bind off rem 24 (28, 32, 36) sts for
back neck.
Front: Work same as Back until Front measures
24 (26, 28, 30) cm/9½ (10½, 11, 12)” [62 (68, 74,
78) rows] above rib.
Raglan Armhole and V-Neck Shaping: Work
armhole shaping same as Back, at the same
time, bind off center 2 sts and working both sides
at once, dec 1 st at each neck edge every 4th row
8 (10, 12, 14) times. When same length as Back,
bind off rem 3 sts each side.
Sleeves: With smaller needles, cast on 38 (42,
42, 46) sts and work in K2, P2 Rib for 4 cm/1½”.
Change to larger needles and work in Box Pat,
inc 1 st each side (working inc sts into pat) on the
1st row above rib, then every 12th row 5 (5, 6, 6)
times more = 50 (54, 56, 60) sts.
Work even until Sleeve measures 28 (30, 34, 38)
cm/11 (12, 13½, 15)” [74 (80, 88, 96) rows] above
rib.
Raglan Cap Shaping: Bind off 1 st at beg of
next 2 rows = 48 (52, 54, 58) sts. Work Raglan
Dec Row every 4th row 1 (2, 3, 3) times then
every 2nd row 19 (20, 20, 22) times. When Sleeve
measures 48 (52, 58, 64) cm/ 19 (20 ½, 23, 25)”
from cast-on edge, bind off rem 8 sts.
Finishing: Block pieces to measurements. Sew
raglan sleeve caps into raglan armholes. Sew
side and sleeve seams.

Design S8933 / Boy’s Pullover and Hat

With RS facing and dpn, beg at center back neck,
pick up and K 45 (47, 49, 51) sts along one half
back neck and along left front neck edge, pick up
2 sts at center front and mark these 2 sts, pick
up 45 (47, 49, 51) sts along right front neck and
other half of back neck = 92 (96, 100, 104) sts.
Join and work in K2, P2 Rib as follows:
Rnd 1: P0 (2, 0, 2), [K2, P2] 11 (11, 12, 12) times,
k2 (center front sts), [K2, P2] 11 (11, 12, 12) times,
K 0 (2, 0, 2).
Rnd 2: Work in rib to 1 st before center 2 sts,
K2tog, SKP, rib to end of rnd. Work 1 rnd even.
Rep last 2 rnds until band measures 3 cm/1¼”.
Bind off sts in rib.
Change to larger dpn and work in rnds in St
st until Hat measures 12 cm/4¾” from cast-on
edge.
Top Shaping: Dec rnd 1: [K14, k2tog]
5 times = 75 sts. K 1 rnd. Dec rnd 2: [K13, K2tog]
15 times = 70 sts.
K 1 rnd. Cont in this way to dec 5 sts every other
rnd, working 1 less st between dec each dec rnd,
9 times more = 5 sts.
Finishing: Cut yarn and draw through rem sts.
Pull tog tightly and secure end. The hat height is
approx 18 cm/7”.

HAT Make a pompon approx 6 cm/2½” in diameter

For head circumference of approx 42 to 46 and sew to top of hat.
cm/16½ to 18”.
With smaller dpn, cast on 80 sts. Divide sts
evenly over 4 needles and join to work in rnds.
Work in K2, P2 Rib for 3 cm/1¼”.
