Dear Nurse Recruiter:

My name is Rachel Colarullo and I am seeking the job of Registered Nurse with the Northwest
Medical Center Graduate Residency Program in the Medical-Surgical Intensive Care Unit. I have
been interested in this program and position since I began a job as a nurse assistant on the Ortho-
Surgical floor of Northwest. Additionally, Dina Balderas sparked my excitement for this
program when she informed me of the positive work environment and reputation it has to offer.

I am an extremely enthusiastic and positive individual, who is graduating with my Bachelor of

Science of Nursing from the University of Arizona in December, 2019. Since my first intensive
care unit rotation, I have had a passion for the high acuity areas of nursing. I thrive in a fast-
paced environment that relies on integrity and working as a team. I am detail oriented and patient
focused, allowing me to fully understand my patients’ histories and foster a therapeutic and
respectful relationship.

I am currently in the process of completing my five-week preceptorship in an Intensive Care

Unit at the Southern Arizona Veterans Affairs. At the end of this experience I am expected to
carry the full load of a registered nurse in the ICU. My enthusiasm and excitement for this
discipline has only gotten stronger during this last experience as a student, which has allowed me
to utilize my clinical knowledge and solidify my nursing skills in an ICU setting. Throughout
this preceptorship, I have maintained my current position as a nurse assistant on the Orthopedic-
Surgical floor. This position has fostered my patient care abilities and communication skills, as
well as given me the confidence I need to effectively care for patients with various diagnoses.
Balancing these two opportunities has developed my time management skills immensely.

I have been excited to begin my career as a registered nurse since the beginning of nursing
school. My experience as a student in an intensive care unit and as a nurse assistant at Northwest
Medical Center has increased my excitement for the Northwest Medical Center Graduate
Residency Program. My ACLS certification further qualifies me for this position. I plan to reach
out to human resources soon and look forward to hearing from you.

Sincerely,

Rachel Colarullo
