Reflection Paper on Before the Flood

The film partakes a number of environmental issues and how the eminent
presence of Global Warming affects the environment we live in. Before the
blood showcased on how the ecology of nature has been in a decline. These
includes the drastic decrease of coral reeves that surround the bodies of
water. The decrease in number of coral reeves is up to 50 percent compared
to the past 30 years. These not only detriments the marine biology of shelter
but as well make the climate much warmer
Another take that had an impact on me is the continuous melting of
Greenland and the artic. These will mostly affect countries of low altitude and
ones with a vast amount of water surrounding which includes the Philippines.
If it were to continue a vast rise in sea level will occur and several bodies of
land will sink.
The showcases that not everything that is appeared to be sustainable is
indeed in reality sustainable. China, despite being the country with highest
amount invested in sustainability is one of the main contributors of causing
the world pollution. In contrast in India, sustainability is achieved with simply
cow dung. Which makes me ponder that sometimes sustainability comes
with simple solutions and that we are too often than not more reliant in
technology to solve our problems when they are in fact the ones causing
them.
I duly am terrified on the changes that the world is facing. With these
abnormal temperatures occurring it is no understatement to say that these
may very well be the very cause o man’s grieve. With bright innovators such
as Elon Musk conjuring on ways to alleviate these threats. We must in return
do much as we can to help. To take from the film many changes are often
occurring and as many of them is ignored. These due to corporate greed,
politics, and many more that are due to man’s selfish desire. It is our mission
as caretakers of the planet to raise awareness of the eminent detriments that
faces upon us and how to stop it from occurring.
 Reflection paper on Leonardo Di Carpio UN Speech

Leonardo’s speech talks about the threats of Global warming and how
everyone is aware of these changes that is happening. I provide a similar
sentiment to Mr. Leonardo on how most are aware of Global warming but
often ignore these changes because of personal interest.
He continued with how Global warming is becoming a crisis bigger than
politics, business, and etc… as it more of a global crisis that affects
everyone.
He emphasized that what we need is change in policy and that a single
change cannot save the planet and must a collective effort. With rules,
policies, and agreement strengthening and binding these so called collective
solution.
It saddens me to say that I agree that policies need to be made. These is
especially evident as how some people orchestrate their utility of energy over
on what is needed. I agree with the idea of having a limited amount of carbon
emission per person. These could vary per person based on status, work,
physical conditions and etc... But in gist, at the very least a limit needed to
be set to avoid exhaustion of our resources.
The speech truly gives me hope on how an actor as successful as he is, is
an advocate on helping our planet once again thrive. Mr. Leonardo Di carpio
did not only won my respect as an actor but as an outstanding human being.
