Learning Outcomes

1. Demonstrate knowledge of human nutritional needs and the role of nutrition in improving

individual health and the societal economic impact of food choices.

If people were aware of just how much damage they are doing to their bodies with their diet,

individual health would not be so hard to come by. Understanding that eating healthy is not

unattainable and expensive, if given the appropriate effort, it becomes achievable. The

societal economic impact of food choices is strong so it’s crucial to encourage positive diet

patterns for the health of people now and in the future.

2. Relate technological advancements in medicine and food production to the advancement

of the science of human nutrition.

Nutritionists sometimes carry out research for food manufacturers. Nutrition is the study

of nutrients in food, how the body uses nutrients, and the relationship between diet,

health, and disease. Any changes to the food supply will inevitably impact food,
nutrition, and health policies, particularly pertaining to food production, agricultural

practices, dietary patterns, nutrition, and health guidance and management.

3. Explain the impact that the food industry has on human food choices and the subsequent

relationship to health and disease at the individual, societal, and environmental level.

The food industry has a significant negative impact on human food, choices and method used

in commercials posted on social media. The food industry is capable of harming human’s

health and exposing it to deadly diseases. Society suffers from a lack of ability to achieve

health and happiness. The environment suffers from increased production of these foods,

which are often harmful to health.

4. Provide examples of past and present nutrient and diet trends in modern society and the

positive and/or negative implications on human health and the earth’s resources

The trend of nutrients and diet between past and present is the tend of a fast food diet that

continues to give us negative effects on human health and natural resources. Before

technological advances, diet trends were not able to reach every house and didn’t affect

the environment in any way. Modern society sets the stage for bad diet trends. The side

effects of a modern diet would most likely be the people who eat Whole Food not

processed food, it is smart and difficult in same time, but it is good to maintain a healthy

lifestyle and stay away from processed food.

5. Provide examples of positive and negative interactions of humankind wit microorganisms

regarding sickness, health and food production.

The negative effects are increasingly on health and weight control has been very difficult

recently. People consume sugar and unsaturated fats without thinking about the side
effects on health. These lead to type 2 Diabetes, Heart Disease and weakened immune

system. Most of the people have lack of movement and activity which makes it worse.

Food production has changed in dangers ways, especially fast food they made people

addicted to them without thinking what will happen with their health.

6. Address diet and nutrient issues and concerns for weight control, disease prevention,

physical activity, food availability, and biotechnology.

Many diet problems arise in the availability of junk food since it is easy to obtain and

cheap compared to the available healthy alternatives. This prevents a person from feeling

comfortable enough because he wants to maintain effective physical activity and begins

to gain weight in an unhealthy way. Preventing disease is more difficult because a person

who eats junk food will not get nutrients necessary to provide immune support, all these

will be possible if the person decides to invest his time to be healthy

Reflection

I learned a lot in this class of nutrition and realized a lot of words and ideas. The concept

of nutrition for me was how much carbohydrates, protein and fat I can eat as a healthy

and active person, but the truth is much deeper. I learned what the different between

bacteria and virous, what enzymes are and how they turn into something. I had a lot of

experience in nutrition before, but this class added correct my ideas, I learned how food

is processed and excreted inside the body and how digesting system work. I am now

better able to understand the nutrients my body needs. This class has taught me a lot not

only about nutrition but also about the human body as a whole. I will take all I learned

and apply it to myself and to my family.
