Instructional Procedures

Focusing Event: Review elements of informative texts.

o Ask students to see if they remember the elements of informative texts.
 Contents
 Glossary
 Heading
 Small black words
 Index
o In desk groups have students form a chart with two columns. (have
example and parts already written on the board). Using the book, they will
search for all the elements and list the page number they are on.
o Once the students are done, come back as a class and ask students to help
fill out the chart on the board.

Teaching/ Learning Procedures: Read the book Estadounidenses Asomobrosos Paul Revere.
o While reading the book, point out the elements, or see if students are able
to point them out.
o Remind the students that when talking about informative text, we don’t
have to read the whole book but pick out the most informative
information.
o After we are done reading, give the students directions on creating the flip
book about the life of Paul Revere.
o Guide the students in writing the parts and have the students do round
robin to talk and find the anwser. Once they find the anwser, I will choose
a student to help me fill out for the block.
Formative Check (ongoing or specific): While the students are talking using the round
robin strategy, I will walk around to see if everyone is participating and to see what they are
talking about.

Reteach (alternative used as needed): If reteach is necessary, I will have a student help them or
have them explain what was talked about.
Closure: Ask students to turn and talk to their shoulder partner about what was the most
interesting thing they learned about.
Assessment/Summative Evaluation: none
