Unit: FBLA Activity: 11.5

Standards/KuDos
KNOW: Students should know the essentials of an invitation and what an effective invitation looks like.

UNDERSTAND: Students should understand that invitations should be professional and easy to read/understand if
they are going to be successful.

BE ABLE TO DO: Students will be able to create their own invitation or video invitation inviting a friend to an FBLA
meeting.
Pre-Assessment/Formative Assessment Notes

• Discuss with students what invitations they have seen recently.


• They should create a list of all the important aspects of an invitation to an FBLA meeting.

• Once students have organized all of their information for the invitation, they should choose whether they
would like to create a video, a card, or both.
• When they decide, allow students to use web tools to create the invite.
• Avery Invitations is a great source to use for this activity. It will allow you to create an invitation and
download it in PDF form to be printed. (http://www.avery.com/weprint/invitations.shtml)

• Students should create their invitation individually, being sure to include all important and necessary

information.
• Once students have created the invitation they plan to use, they should create a second invitation to be
submitted to the teacher for use.
• It may be best for this invitation to be intended for the next FBLA chapter meeting or event.

• Students should share their invitations with the class.


• Once the invitation is complete, the student should give the invitation to at least three friends who are not
members of FBLA.
• Remind students to follow up with the people that they invite to be sure that they will be in attendance at the
chapter meeting.

Post Assessment

• Be sure that students deliver the invitations to their prospective guest for the FBLA meeting.
• In order for the student to be given BAA credit for this activity, their guest (non-member) must attend the
FBLA meeting.
• This activity also correlates with Activity 24 in the Future Level BAA.
