4. Wiring Precautions
Warning
Ensure the grounding terminal is properly grounded.
For 200V class, the ground resistance is: 100Ω or below;
For 400V class, the ground resistance is: 10Ω or below;
Any breach of this warning will lead to electrical shock or fire.

Caution
Do not make the AC main loop power and the output terminals of U, V, and W connected. If so,
the converter will be damaged.

(1) Precautions for wiring the input side of the main loop
a) Install a molded case circuit breaker (MCCB
To protect the circuit, be sure to connect a MCCB or fuse between AC main loop power
and R, S and T of LSD-G/F 7000 input terminals.
b) Install a magnetic contactor (MC)
It is acceptable if there is no MC installed on the converter power side. The MC can be
used to replace the MCCB as the sequential disconnection of the main loop power, but
once the MC is disconnected at one side, the regenerative brake will not function and the
motor will in coasting stop.
 Close/Open the MC at one side can make the load operate/stop, but frequency
closing/opening can lead to converter fault. Please note this.
 When the brake resistor unit is used, the sequential control can be achieved via the trip
contact on the overload relay when the MC is disconnected. If there is a fault in the
converter, the resistor unit may be burned.
c) Phase sequence connection of the terminal board
The phase wire of the input power can be connected to any one of R, S, and T on the
terminal board in any phase sequence.
d) Install an AC reactor
When a converter (200v/400v 15kw or below) is connected to a power transformer of
large capacity (600kv or above), or switch on/off a phase advance capacitor, there will
be a large peak current going through the input power loop, which may damage the
rectifier converter. Under this condition, please add a AC reactor (optional) at the input
side of the converter, which can effectively improve the power factor at the power side.
e) Install a surge suppressor
When an inductive load is connected (MC, relay, solenoid valve, electromagnetic coil,
electromagnetic brake) near the converter, a surge suppressor must be used at the same
time.
f) Forbid installing a phase advance capacitor
In the event of installing a phase advance capacitor or a surge suppressor to improve
power factor, the high harmonic component of the converter will be over-heat and
damaged. In addition, the over-current may result in improper operation of the
converter.
g) Set the noise filter at the power side
Reduce the high-frequency noise flowing from the converter to the power supply

10
(2) Precautions to output wiring of the main loop
a) Wiring of output terminal board and load
Connect the U, V, and W output terminals with the U, V, W phases of the motor
leading-out wire, and validate the forward rotation via the forward rotation command
(CCW: it rotates anticlockwise when you observe at the load side of the motor). If the
motor does not rotate in the right direction, adjust any two of the U, V, and W output
terminals.
b) It is forbidden to connect the input power and output terminal. Never connect the input
power to the U, V, or W terminal.
c) It is forbidden to short circuit or ground the output circuit. Never directly contact the
output circuit or make the output wire contact the converter enclosure; otherwise it will
cause electrical shock or grounding, and result in great danger. In addition, never short
circuit the output wires.
d) It is forbidden to connect a phase advance capacitor or LC/RC noise filter. Never
connect them to the output loop.
e) Try not to install a magnetic starter or electromagnetic contact to the output loop. If a
load is connector to the converter in operation, its overcurrent protection loop will act
due to the inrush current.
f) Set the noise filter at the output side
The dedicated noise filter at the output side of the converter reduces the radio and
interference noise.

电源 Power 噪声滤波器 Noise filter 信号线 Signal wire

收音干扰(AM 收音) Radio interference (AM radio)
诱导噪音 Noise induced 控制机械 Control machines

Fig. 4 Setting of the noise filter at the output side

Interference noise: due to the electromagnetic interference, the noise is modulated onto
the signal line, which results in the controller malfunction.
Radio noise: the high-frequency wave emitted from the converter per se or cables
produces noise in radio receivers.
g) Countermeasures against interference waves
To suppress the interference noise produced at the output side, in addition to the noise
filter, the noise can be reduced by placing all connection wires into grounding metal
pipes and being over 30cm away from signal wires.

电源 Power 金属管 Metal pipe 信号线 Signal wire 控制机械 Control machines

h) Countermeasures against radio noise

The radio noise comes not only from input or output wires but also from the converter
per se. it can be reduced by arranging a noise filter between the input and output side
and using shielded wires to connect the iron enclosure of the converter, especially, the
connection wire between the converter and motor should be as shorter as possible.

11

i) Connection wire length between the converter and motor

If the total wire length between the converter and motor is too long and the carrier
frequency (main crystal switch frequency) of the converter is too high, the harmonic
leakage current from cables will produce adverse effects on the converter and external
equipment.
If the wire between the converter and motor is too long, you can reduce the carrier
frequency of the converter, which can be set via Pr078 parameter.

Table 2 Wire length between converter and motor

Wire length between the Max. 100m Over 100m

of Pr078 parameter
(3) Grounding
 Grounding resistor 200v: 100Ω or below; 400v: 10Ω or below.
 Never ground the converter to the common ground of electric welders, motors or other
electrical equipment with big current. Ensure that all grounding wires in the pipe are laid
separately from the lead wires of equipment with big current.
 Use the specified grounding wires, and try to shorten their length.
 When multiple LSD-G/F7000 devices are used side by side, please use the grounding device
as shown in fig. 7(a) or (b). Never make the grounding wire into a loop as shown in fig 7(c).

 Is wiring wrong? Check whether the power supply is connected to U.V.W terminals:
(ensure that the power supply is input from R.S.T terminals).
 Is there any metal chips or lead wires possibly resulting in short circuit resided on
the foundation plate of the converter and wiring terminals.
 Have all screws tightened, and connectors are plugged tightly?
 Is there any short circuit or ling-to-ground fault in the output part?

(2) How to perform trial run

Since the LSD-G/F7000 series converters have been set in the operator mode before
delivery, in the trial run you can use the operation keypad firstly. For common trial run, firstly set
the frequency to 5Hz, press the RUN key to start the motor, and observe whether the motor runs
properly. Is everything is proper, set the frequency to 50Hz and have the motor run under 50H.
Observe the operation status of the converter and the motor. If everything is proper, select your
desired control mode for the converter.

Set to 14: Chose terminal pulse width frequency as the frequency source. When Pr148 (Terminal
S8) is set to 34, the frequency can be delivered by closing S8. For details, see the
function description of Pr148 (V) (Terminal S8 function). The related parameters
include Pr148, Pr195, and Pr196.

Pr005 Run command mode

Setting range: 0-3 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

Set to 0: under the panel operator control. The operation commands are from RUN and STOP on
the panel for the operation or stop actions.
Set to 1: under external terminal control. The run and stop commands are given by the external
terminals, i.e., the multi-functional terminals.
Set to 2: under communication port operation. The run command is given by the communication
port.
Set to 3: multi-speed control. The operation command is given by the multi-speed command.
Note: when Pr185 is set to 1, the STOP key on the keypad enjoys priority.

Pr006 Control mode at startup

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0
There are two starting methods for different demands.
Set to 0: It is started from the starting frequency. When Pr032 is set to 0, i.e., DC braking is invalid
at startup, it will start from the starting frequency. When Pr032 is not set to 0, DC braking
is valid at startup, and when it starts, DC braking functions first before it starts from the
starting frequency.
Set to 1: The speed search is started. The parameter setting can be used for startup of large inertia
load. At startup, the converter will perform the speed search downward from the upper
limit frequency. For equipment of large inertia load, it can execute the operation
command and perform tracing start to save time without waiting for its complete stop in
restart.
Note: when the converter starts with speed search, the DC braking function is invalid at startup,
and the converter perform speed search downward from the upper limit frequency and trace
at the highest speed. The function relies on precise motor parameters. If motor parameters
are of large deviation, the current will be high at startup and even overcurrent stall may
occur. To achieve smooth startup, it is recommended to execute the self-learning function.
The set value of Pr112 (detection benchmark of speed search consistence) can not be too
high. For related parameters, see Pr032, Pr033, Pr088, and Pr112.
24
Pr007 Stop control method
Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

There are two ways of setting stop modes for different demands.

Set to 0: Deceleration to stop. When Pr034 is set o 0, the DC braking is invalid. When the DC
braking is invalid, the converter decelerates to the stop frequency and then stops output.
In this case, the motor stops in the way of free rotation. When Pr034 is not set to 0, the
DC braking is valid, the converter firstly decelerates to the stop frequency, and then the
DC braking functions to stop. In stopping, the DC braking is often used for high position
stop or positioning control. It must be cautioned that the frequency use of DC braking
will cause overheating of motor. For related parameters, see Pr034 and Pr035.
Set to1: free stop. When the converter receives the stop instruction, it will stop output immediately,
and the motor stops in the free rotation, in which the DC braking function is invalid.

Pr008 Emergency stop

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 1

Set to 0: deceleration to stop

Set to 1: stop in free rotation
Note: The detailed description is the same with that of Pr007. when the operation command of
the converter is terminal control and Pr185 is set to 1, the STOP key on the keypad is the
emergency stop key. In this mode, the motor stop mode can be selected independently.

Pr009 Jogging stop

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 1

Set to 0: deceleration to stop

Set to 1: stop in free rotation
Note: Its detailed description is the same with that of Pr007. When the converter works under
the jogging mode, the motor stop mode can be selected independently.

Pr010 System reserved

Setting range: 0 Unit: 0 Default value: 0

System reserved

Pr011 Reverse rotation prohibited

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

Set to 0: it can rotate in the reverse direction. When it is set to 0, the converter can receive the
command of reverse rotation from the panel and terminals.
Set to 1: Reverse rotation is prohibited. When it is set to 1, the converter does not receive the
command of reverse rotation from the panel and terminals. It is applicable to places
where reverse rotation of motor is prohibited in case of personal misoperation. When the
reverse rotation is prohibited, the motor can only rotate in the forward direction, and can
not rotate in the reverse direction.

25
Pr012 Default rotation direction
Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

Set to 0: forward rotation. When it is set to 0, the default rotation direction of the converter at
power-on is forward.
Set to 1: reverse rotation. When it is set to 1, the default rotation direction of the converter at
power-on is reverse.
Note: The parameter sets the default rotation direction of the converter at power-on.

Pr013 System reserved

Setting range: 0 Unit : 0 Default value: 0

System reserved

Pr014 Output upper limit frequency

Setting range: 0.1-400.00Hz Unit: 0.01 Hz Default value: 50.00Hz

The upper limit frequency is the highest frequency permissible for converter operation, while
Pr024 (output lower limit frequency) is the lowest frequency permissible for converter operation.
In setting the upper and lower frequencies, it must be guaranteed that the output frequency of the
converter can not be higher than the upper limit frequency and below the lower limit frequency
(set value of Pr024). This function is often used to ensure the permissible frequency range of the
motor in operation, in case of accident in the machine system or converter resulting from
misoperation. And it is very suitable to prevent low speed or overspeed operation.

Pr015 V/F curve setting

Setting range: 0-10 Unit: 1 Default value: 10

Set to 10: random curve. You can set the value of Pr015-Pr023 to change the V/F curve according
to your own demand.
Set to 0-9: Fixed V/F mode. There are 10 fixed V/F curves for different applications in
LSD-G/F7000 for users to choose freely. See the corresponding tables in the following
figure:
Set value of 400V class converter: (half for 200V class, note: the values of Pr016 and Pr022 are

9 60Hz 400V 8Hz 55V 3Hz 22V 1.5Hz 12V

Note: in vector control, the V/F curve is fixed to random V/F curves, not confined by Pr015 choice
(refer to Pr088). After the default value is restored, the default is random V/F curve (Pr015=0).

26
Pr016 Rate motor frequency
Setting range: 30.0-400.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 50.00Hz
The frequency corresponding to the rated motor voltage is called rated motor frequency, also
known as basic frequency. Generally, it is noted on the motor nameplate. In vector control, the
value input must be the same with that on the name plate. And a better result can be achieved after
self-learning.

Pr017 Rated motor voltage

Setting range: 10.0-460.0V Unit: 0.1V Default value: 400.0V

The applicable voltage noted on the motor nameplate is called rated voltage. In vector control, the
value input must be the same with that on the name plate. And a better result can be achieved after
self-learning.

Pr018 Intermediate frequency H

Setting range: 0.3-400.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 5.00Hz

Pr019 Intermediate frequency voltage H

Setting range: 0.3-400.00Hz Unit: 0.1V Default value: 38.0V

Pr020 Intermediate frequency L

Setting range: 0.2-400.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 3.00Hz

Pr021 Intermediate frequency voltage L

Setting range: 0.2-300.0V Unit: 0.1V Default value: 23.0V

Pr022 Min. frequency

Setting range: 0.1-400.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 1.5Hz

Pr023 Min. frequency voltage

Setting range: 0.1-200.0V Unit: 0.1V Default value: 13.0V

Intermediate frequency, intermediate voltage, min. frequency, and min. frequency voltage when
parameters Pr019-Pr023 are set to random V/F curves. When Pr-018-Pr023 are set properly, ideal
V/F result may be achieved. Improper settings may result insufficient motor overcurrent or torque,
and even the tripping of the converter.
Note: To achieve better performance in different industries and loads, some special functions
are added in software development of LSD-G/F converters. Different from other brands, LSD-G/F
converters have two intermediate frequencies and their corresponding voltages. In setting the
intermediate frequency and voltage, be sure to set the intermediate frequency H and voltage H
values are greater than the intermediate frequency L and voltage L values. The set value of the
intermediate frequency is limited by the rated frequency, while that of the intermediate voltage by
the highest voltage value.
Setting conditions: Pr016>Pr018>Pr020>Pr022
Pr017>Pr019>Pr021>P4023

27
Pr024 Output lower limit frequency
Setting range: 0.0-400.0 Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 0.00
The lower limit frequency is mainly used to prevent misoperation by onsite persons, avoid
overheating or other mechanical failures due to low operation frequency of motor. When the set
frequency is below the lower limit frequency, the converter will run according to the lower limit
frequency.

Pr025 Stop (DC braking) frequency

Setting range: 0.1-10.0Hz Unit: 0.01 Hz Default value: 1.50Hz

When the converter stops and the frequency falls to the stop (DC braking) value, the converter
stops output and starts the DC braking to stop the machine.
When Pr030=0, the DC braking is invalid at stop and the converter stops output.
When Pr030 is set to a valid value, the converter stops via the DC braking.

Pr026 Mode of zero frequency output

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

Set to 0: when the output frequency falls below the startup frequency, the converter cuts off
output.
Set to 1: when the output frequency falls below the startup frequency, the converter outputs the
DC voltage set by Pr035, and the nixie tube displays “DCb”. The result is equal to the stop DC
braking without time limit, until the converter receives the stop instruction.

Pr032 DC braking time at startup

Setting range: 0.0-65.0S Unit: 0.1S Default value: 0.0S
The parameter sets the duration of the DC braking current sent to the motor when it enters the DC
braking state at startup. When it is set to 0, it means the DC braking is closed. The DC braking
prior to operation is often applied to places where the load may move such as fans in the stop state,
because the load is ahead of the converter motor and the motor usually is in the free movement
with flexible rotation direction. Execute the DC braking prior to startup, and then start the motor
to prevent the converter from tripping.

此参数在 Pr007 设定为 0 时有效,相关参数参见 Pr007。

The parameter is enabled when Pr007 is set to 0. for related parameters, see Pr007.

Setting range: 0.0-65.0S Unit: 0.1S Default value: 0.0S
Note: when it is not set to 0, the DC braking at stop is enabled to input the DC braking time to the
motor. It is often used to speed stop or positioning control.

此参数在 Pr007 设定为 0 时有效,相关参数参见 Pr007。

The parameter is enabled when Pr007 is set to 0. for related parameters, see Pr007.

29

Pr038 S-curve acceleration time Pr039 S-curve deceleration time

Setting range: 0-10.0S Unit: 0.1S Default value: 0.3S
It is used to set the converter to perform the impact-free slow start or stop at startup or stop. When
the S-curve is enabled, the converter will perform the acceleration/deceleration curve of different
speeds according to acceleration/deceleration time. When Pr038 is set to 0, the S-curve is disabled,
namely, the converter decelerates linearly. Without considering the stall, the actual
acceleration/deceleration time is equal to the set acceleration/deceleration time.

Pr070 Frequency command code 2

Setting range: 0-14 Unit: 1 Default value: 0
Its setting function is the same with Pr004 (frequency command code). See Pr004 for details.
Note: Is the frequency change-over code from S1-S8 terminals chosen by Pr004 or Pr070.
For example: if you want to use S4 terminal to change the frequency source to the panel
potentiometer and external analog voltage (FV), you must make the following settings:
Set Pr004 to 1 (the panel potentiometer), Pr070 to 2 (external analog voltage FV), and Pr141 (S4)
to 19 (changing frequency command code 2). And when S4 is disconnected from SC, the setting
of Pr004 is enabled (the panel potentiometer is the frequency source); when S4 is connected to SC,
the setting of Pr070 is enabled (the external analog voltage is the frequency source).

Setting range: 0.00-400.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz

Note: since machines in load operation have different resonance frequency points, to make the
converter pass by such points, the frequencies can be set to avoid some points, and the working
frequency corresponding with the resonance frequency is called the avoidance frequency. You can
set 3 avoidance frequencies for converters of LSD-G/F series. When you use two and more
avoidance frequencies, the top and bottom values can not overlap. When the avoidance frequency
is the default value of 0, the function of avoidance frequency is disabled.

Pr078 Setting of carrier frequency

Setting range: 1.200KHz-15.000KHz Unit: 0.001 Default value: subject to converter types
The carrier frequency is related to the motor electromagnetic noise as well as to the heating effect
of converters and interference to environment. The carrier frequency rationally set can prolog the
service life of converters. See the right table:

Carrier frequency Electromagnetic noise Heating effect Interference to environment

Low High Low Low

High Low High High

90.0 KW 6.000KHz 2.500KHz
110KW 6.000KHz 2.500KHz

34
The table shows that a high carrier will make it run quietly; however, you must focus on
interference prevention. A low carrier produces big noise, while the heating produced by the
converter is low. It means that in a place where there is no high demand on noise, you should
adjust the carrier downward, which is especially important for machines of high powers.
Note: the default value of the carrier frequency varies with the converter powers.

Pr080 Rated motor current

Setting range: 1.00-1200A Unit: 0.1A Default value: subject to converter types
Parameter Pr080 is subject to the rated value on motor nameplates can limit the output current of
converters to prevent overcurrent and protect motors. Once the motor current is over the value, the
converter will function to protect.

Pr081 Number of motor poles

Setting range: 2-16 Unit: 1 Default value: 4
The number motor poles set by parameter Pr081 is subject to motor nameplates. (It must be set to
an even number)

Pr082 Rated motor slip frequency

Setting range: 0.50-15.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 3.0Hz
It should be calculated according to motor nameplates. The calculating method is as follows: rated
motor frequency – (rated rpm x motor poles/120)
Note: when a converter uses the vector control, the values of Pr080, Pr081, and Pr082 must be set
according to the parameters on the motor nameplate and the accurate calculation of Pr082 prior to
self-learning. Only accurately set motor parameters can achieve the optimal vector control.

Pr083 Resistance between motor wires

Setting range: 10-65530mΩ Unit: 1mΩ Default value: subject to converter types
It sets the DC resistance value between any two motor wires, and should be set according to the
actually detected value.

Pr084 No-load current of motors

Setting range: 0.1-500.0A Unit: 0.1A Default value: subject to converter types

Pr085 No-load factor of motors

Setting range: 3.0-200.00% Unit: 0.01% Default value: subject to converter types

It sets the no-load factor of motors, and should be set according to the actually detected value.

35
Pr086 Iron core magnetic saturation coefficient
Setting range: 30.0-70.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 42.0%
It should be set according to the actually detected value.
Note: for values set by users for Pr082-Pr086, if Pr088 is set to 1, the motor self-learning will
automatically detect and modify values of Pr082-Pr086. See Pr088 for details.

Pr088 Set Self-detection of motor parameters

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

Set to 0: self-learning of motor parameters disabled. When Pr088 is set to o, the converter does not
perform self-learning.
Set to 1: Self-learning is enabled.
Prior to self-learning of motor parameters, the motor must be detached from load to make it in
no-load state, and you must enter the correct parameter on the motor nameplate (P4081-Pr082);
otherwise the self-learning result may not be correct. Prior to self-learning, the proper UP/DOWN
time (Pr041-Pr042) must be set according to the motor inertia; otherwise there will be overcurrent
or overvoltage fault in the self-learning. After Pr088 is set to 1, the converter enters automatically
the self-learning state, and the “TUN” appears on the display panel and flashes. And then, press
the RUN key to start self-learning, at this time, the TUN indicator still flashes and is on. After
parameter self-learning, END appears on the display panel which can automatically returns to the
standby state.
Note: in parameter self-learning, the motor must be in no-load. After entering the self-learning
state, only the PROG (programming key) key, RUN key, and STOP key on the display panel are
effective, while others are ineffective. If you press the STOP key in the self-learning, the converter
stops self-learning. After self-learning, the value of Pr088 will be automatically restored to 0.

Pr089 Slip compensation gain

Setting range: 40.0%-200.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 130.0%
When the converter drives a motor, the slip will grow due to the growth of load. You can set the
slip compensation with the parameter to reduce the slip and keep the motor rpm close to the
synchronous rpm.

Pr090 Torque compensation gain

Setting range: 10.0%-200.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 120.0%
You can use the parameter to set the converter in operation to output automatically extra voltage
to gain high torque to compensate the torque insufficiency in low frequency. The compensation
can not be too large. You can set slowly from low to high according to your actual situation.
Insufficient compensation will result in insufficient torque in low frequency; while too large
compensation will lead to high torque impacting the machine and causing converter tripping.

Torque compensation

36
Pr091 Upper limit of torque compensation voltage
Setting range: 10.0%-26.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 18.0%
The parameter is the upper limit of confining torque compensation.

Pr092 Response frequency of system control

Setting range: 5.0%-100.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 25.0%
It can set the dynamic speed response of vector control. The smaller the value of Pr092 is, the
slower the dynamic speed response, vice versa. It is closely related to the inertia of the motor
system. You can adjust it on the basis of different load features to meet different places.
Note: the improper setting of Pr092 may lead to the system vibration.

Pr094 Overload protection of motor

Setting range: 0-4 Unit: 1 Default value: 1

Set to 0: disable the overload protection (be cautious), and the converter does not have the
overheating protection on the motor.
Set to 1: common motor (with low speed compensation), stop automatically in overload.
Set to 2: common motor (with low speed compensation), stop in the way set by Pr007 in overload.
Set to3: variable frequency motor (without low speed compensation), stop automatically in
overload.
Set to 4: variable frequency motor (without low speed compensation), stop in the way set by Pr007
in overload.
Note: since the heat dispersion of common motor fans is low in low speed, the thermal resistance
value should be adjusted correspondingly. The so-called “with low speed compensation” means to
adjust downward the overload protection threshold value of motors with the operation frequency
below 30Hz.

Pr095 Overload protection benchmark of motors

Setting range: 20.0%-200.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 130.0%
This parameter is used to set the overload protection of a motor. If the operation current of the
motor detected by the converter is over Pr095 (overload protection benchmark), the converter will
adopt the inverse time protection. The higher the current is, the shorter the time. If the ratio
between the working current and rated current is over the overload protection current value
(Pr095), it will report the overload protection after it continues to the set value of Pr096.
Note: it is used by the converter to protect the motor. Please set the parameter with reference to the
motor power.

Pr096 Overload protection time

Setting range: 6.0-600.0S Unit: 0.1S Default value: 60.0S
The parameter sets the time used by the converter to report overload protection after the motor
arrives at the benchmark value of overload protection current.

Pr099 Declining rate of overcurrent stall frequency

Setting range: 0.0-20.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 3.00Hz

Due to the large load in converter operation, the actual increasing rate of motor rpm is lower than
that of output frequency. Without measures adopted, the acceleration overcurrent will appear in the
converter to lead to tripping. The overcurrent stall protection can detect the output current in the
converter operation and compare with the overcurrent stall protection benchmark set in Pr098. if
the benchmark is surpassed, the output frequency of the converter will reduce according to the
declining rate of the overcurrent stall frequency (Pr099). Once it detects that the output current is
below the benchmark, the converter will restores its proper acceleration. See the following figure:

Pr100 Overcurrent stall protection factor

Setting range: 0.0%-100.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 35.0%
In the converter deceleration, due to the load inertia, the actual declining rate of motor rpm may be
below that of the output frequency. At this time, the motor will feed back it to the converter, which
results in the converter bus voltage rising. Without measures adopted, it will lead to the converter
overcurrent tripping. This function can detect the bus voltage and compare with the overvoltage
stall point in the converter operation. If it surpasses the point, the system will stop the frequency
declining. Once it detects again that the bus voltage is below the point, it will continue
decelerating. See the following figure:

Setting range: 0-3 Unit: 1 Default value: 0
The function brakes according to the magnetic flux of a motor. Among the 0-3 set value s, 0 is the
minimum braking force, while 3 is the maximal force. You can set the parameter according to
different load inertia.
Note: the function has high performance in places of small power and small inertia, while low
performance in places of large power and large inertia without braking resistors.

Pr107 Low voltage detection benchmark

Setting range: 200.0-480.0V(DC) Unit: 0.1V Default value: 390.0V
It sets the DC bus voltage of the converter main loop as the low voltage detection benchmark.
When an AC reactor is installed at the input side, the set value should be below the standard set
value.
Note: the default value for 200V class is 190VDC, 400V class 390VDC, and 660V class 680VDC.

39
Pr108 Maximum voltage over-modulation coefficient
Setting range: 100.0-130.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 118.0%

The converter can work normally when the input is low yet not reaches the low voltage protection,
but the output voltage is also low. With this function you can improve the output voltage.
Note: it can improve 1.3 times of the input voltage maximally, but excessive adjustment can
increase the fault rate and reduce the service life of the converter.

Pr109 Action at instantaneous power failures

Setting range: 0-2 Default value: 0

Set to 0: disabled, namely no restart after instantaneous power failures.

Set to 1: if the power supply is resumed within the Pr110 time, it will start by tracing the frequency,
please refer to the description of Pr006 and Pr112.
Set to 2: as long as the control panel is not cut off power, it will start by tracing frequency, please
refer to the description of Pr006 and Pr112.

Pr110 Compensation time at instantaneous power failures

Setting range: 0.1-4.000S Unit: 0.001S Default value: 1.000S
The parameter can set the maximal power-off time, once the set time is over the converter still
stops output even after power supply is resumed. And you should perform the restart according to
the common startup process.
Note: you should be very cautious to safety in using this function, because in the power resuming
after instantaneous power failures the convert will be restarted, which is easy to cause accidents.
Please be cautious in using the function.

When the output current is over the benchmark, the converter suspends tracing. When the current
resumes to the value below the benchmark, it will resume the frequency tracing, after which is
restarted, please reduce the benchmark of frequency tracing current properly according to the
actual load; otherwise, it is very prone to overcurrent protection.

ON OFF Frequency rise
OFF ON Frequency fall
ON ON Frequency rises, instead of falling

Description:
(1) the UP/DOWN function is enabled only when the run frequency source is the
operator’s operation, i.e., Pr004 is 0.
(2) When UP terminal closes, the converter’s frequency increases;
(3) When DOWN terminal closes, the converter’s frequency decreases;
(4) When UP and DOWN terminals close at the same time, the frequency does not
increase nor decrease, and it is deemed as disabled;
(5) When the frequency reaches the highest operation frequency, it will not increase any
longer;
(6) When the frequency reaches the lowest frequency or lower limit, it will not decrease
any longer;
(7) After power-off, the frequency is not saved in memory. For memory saving, see the
description of Pr062;
(8) When the UP/DOWN function is adopted, you can change the mode and rate of
UP-DOWN via the settings of Pr060 and Pr061. For details, see the description of
Pr060 and Pr061;
(9) Press and hold UP or DOWN to increase or decrease frequency quickly;

Ⅴ.Description of pulse width frequency functions (Note: only terminal S8 can be set with
this function)
To facilitate the control of PLC on the converter frequency, the pulse width frequency function is
added.
When Pr004 (Pr070) is set to 14 and Pr148 to 34, you can control the set frequency of converters
via the closing-to-opening time of terminal S8.
Set frequency =N (closing time ms/2ms of terminal S8) * Pr196 “terminal pulse width unit &
frequency”, and the set result is limited by the “upper output limit frequency” of Pr014.
For example, when Pr196 is set to 1.00Hz, the valid time on terminal S8 is 100mS, and the
actually set pulse width frequency is (100mS/2mS) * 1.00Hz=50.00Hz.
Pr195 of “preset frequency of terminal pulse width” only determines the pulse width frequency
when the converter is power-on.

Pr149 Select terminal run control modes

Setting range: 0-3 Unit: 1 Default value: 0
Parameter Pr149 defines the 4 methods of controlling the converter run via external terminals.

Set to 0: 2-wire control mode 1

This is the most common 2-wire mode, in which the forward/reverse rotation of the
motor is determined by commands from S1(FWD) and S2(REV) terminals.

运转指令 Rotation command \ 正转 Forward \ 反转 Reverse \ 停止 Stop

Set to 1: 2-wire control mode 2
In this mode, S1(FWD) is the enabled terminal, and the direction is determined by the
state of S2(REV).

运转指令 Rotation command \ 正转 Forward \ 反转 Reverse \ 停止 Stop

Set to 2: 3-wire control mode 1

When S1(FWD) pulse inputs or closes, it rotates forward.
When S2(REV) pulse inputs or closes, it rotates reversely.
When S3(STOP pulse inputs or closes, it stops.

Set to 3: 3-wire control mode 2

When S1(FWD) pulse inputs or closes,
If S2(REV) closes, it rotates reversely, otherwise, forward,
If S3(STOP) pulse inputs or closes, it stops.

运行方向 Rotation direction \ 正转 Forward \ 反转 Reverse

Remarks: in the 3-wire control mode, if you want it to run when STOP terminals closes, stop when
STOP opens (STOP is equal to an enabled terminal), you can set Pr140.

and terminal state can not be monitored and displayed in sequence via the DSPL switch key before
you set them in Pr183. you just set the corresponding code to Pr183. If you want to display
multiple items, you can choose more to write into Pr183. For example, if you want to display
frequency, output current and rpm, you just set Pr183 to 35 because Pr183=1+2+32. If you want to
display all monitored items one by one with the DSPL switch key, then
Pr183=1+2+4+8+16+32+64+128+256+512+1024+2048+4096+8192+16384=32764. In other
words, set Pr183 to 32767, and you can switch over all monitored items. Since it will waste a lot
of time, it is recommended to select according to your requirement.

System reserved

Pr205 Swing frequency amplitude

Setting range: 0.0-1000.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 0.0%
The set frequency in operation corresponds to the swing frequency amplitude 100.0%. The swing
frequency amplitude (Hz) = ± (set frequency x the set value of Pr205). The swing frequency
amplitude is confined by the upper and lower limit output frequency.

Pr206 Frequency hopping amplitude

Setting range: 0.0-50.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 5.0%
The frequency hopping amplitude is relative to the value of wobble amplitude. Frequency hopping
amplitude (Hz) = (swing frequency amplitude in operation (Hz) x the set value of Pr206).

Pr207 Rise time of swing frequency

Setting range: 0.1-6000.0S Unit: 0.1S Default value: 5.0S
It is the time used for frequency to swing from the lowest point to the highest point.

Pr208 Fall time of swing frequency

Setting range: 0.1-6000.0S Unit: 0.1S Default value: 5.0S
It is the time used for frequency to swing from the highest point to the lowest point. The swing
frequency function is applicable to places requiring traverse moving and reeling functions such as
textile and chemical fiber industries. The swing frequency function means that the output
frequency of the converter swings up and down with the set frequency as the center. The track of
running frequency on the timeline is as shown in the following figure, in which the swing
frequency amplitude is determined by Pr205. When Pr205 is set to 0, the function is disabled.
摆频上限频率 Upper limit of swing frequency
摆频下限频率 Lower limit of swing frequency
输出频率 Output frequency
中心频率 Central frequency
摆频幅度 Swing frequency amplitude
突跳幅度 Frequency hopping amplitude
接减速时间减速 To deceleration time
接加速时间加速 To acceleration time
摆频下降时间 Fall time of swing frequency
摆频上升时间 Rise time of swing frequency
摆频运行示意图 Diagram of swing frequency run

56
The following is the detailed description of the swing frequency function:
1. If the swing amplitude is not set to 0, when the swing frequency function is enabled, the S-curve
function will be disabled.
2. The upper limit frequency should be over [set frequency + (set frequency * swing frequency
amplitude)], otherwise, once it reaches the upper limit frequency, it will execute the downward
action.
3. The lower limit frequency should be below [set frequency - (set frequency * swing frequency
amplitude)], otherwise, once it reaches the lower limit frequency, it will execute the upward
action.
4. If the value of [set frequency - (set frequency * swing frequency amplitude)] is below the
startup frequency, when it reaches the lowest point, the following acceleration to move upward
will be calculated as the start acceleration, instead of the swing frequency acceleration, and the
acceleration time is acceleration time 1, 2, 3, or 4, not the swing frequency acceleration time.
5.If the set frequency is changed when the swing frequency is running, the swing frequency
amplitude and hopping amplitude will be enabled immediately, while the new swing frequency
acceleration/deceleration time will be enabled in the next hopping frequency point.

Pr210 RS485 local communication address

Setting range: 1-128 Unit: 1 Default value: 1

Set to 1-127: The converter is the slave station

When the converter is set to be under the RS-485 communication interface control, it
will set the sole local address via Pr210. When the master compiles the frame, it will set the
slave address to 0, i.e., broadcast address, and all slaves on the MODBUS bus will receive the
frame, yet without answering. The local address is unique in the communication network,
which is the basis of realizing point-to-point communication between the upper computer and
the converter.
Set to 128: the converter is the master station
When the converter address is 128, the converter will be the main converter which
sends run and stop command on the basis of the current run state, uses the current set
frequency as the frequency instruction, and broadcasts data. For example, the function in the
paper industry can easily control the synchronous run of multiple converters.

Pr211 Privilege of RS485 communication function

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

Set to 0: low check code is in the front

Set to 1: high check code is in the front

The parameter should be set properly according to the data frame format of the mainframe,
otherwise, it will lead to communication fault.

Pr215 Answer mode of RS485 communication

Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 1

Set to 0: no answer to the command to write from the upper computer, yet answer to the command
to read.
Set to 1: answer to the command to write from the upper computer and to the command to read

By setting it to 0, the communication efficiency can be improved.

Pr216 RS485 communication answer delay

Setting range: 0-50ms Unit: 1ms Default value: 3ms
When it is used as a slave one, it will send the answer data after the time set in Pr216 when the
data receiving completes. When there is a communication fault due to the insufficient processing
speed of the upper computer, you can add delay time to make it compatible.
When it is used as a master (Pr210 set to 128), the parameter can be used to set the interval
between two broadcast frames.
Note: the sending interval of the master should be longer than the answer interval of the slave,
otherwise, the previous frame data will be overwritten by this data, which causes communication
fault (SCI). For details, see the communication protocol appendix.

58
Pr217 RS485 communication timeout time
Setting range: 0.000-10.000S Unit: 0.001S Default value: 0.000S
When it is set to 0.0S, the communication timeout detection is disabled.
When it is set to a valid value, if the interval between the communication time of this time and of
last time is over the timeout time, the system will report communication fault (25), and the digital
tube will display “485”.
At the same time, the converter will stop the motor according to the mode set by Pr009.
Usually, it is disabled. In a system of continuous communication, it can be used to monitor the
communication state.

Pr218 RS485 default power-on frequency

Setting range: 0.0-400.00Hz Unit: 0.01Hz Default value: 00.00Hz
It is the preset RS485 frequency at power-on and before RS485 communication is set up.

Set to 1: set Pr004 (frequency instruction) to 11 to receive RS485 frequency instruction.
Set to 2: set Pr004 (operation instruction) to 2 to receive RS485 operation instruction.
Set to 3: according to the network demand, set Pr210 (slave address) to a unique address in the
network.
Set to 4: according to security demand, set Pr211 (privilege) to the proper write/read privilege.
Set to 5: set Pr212 (baud rate) to the same with the upper computer.
Set to 6: set Pr213 (data format) to the same with the upper computer.

of 0-20mA or 0-10V of the terminal FI. (For the detailed function of FI terminal, refer to
the function description of FI terminal.)
Set to 4: RS485 communication data is the target source. It is set by the data value of RS485
communication address 2002H (receiving). For the communication data, refer to the
communication protocol appendix.

(0-100%) of 0-20mA or 0-10V of the terminal FI. (For the detailed function of FI
terminal, refer to the function description of FI terminal.)
Set to 4: RS485 communication data is the feedback source. It is set by the data value of RS485
communication address 2002H (receiving). For the communication data, refer to the
communication protocol appendix.
Note: the given channel can not be the same with the feedback channel; otherwise, PID can not
effectively control.
59
Pr222 Select PID output features
Setting range: 0-1 Unit: 1 Default value: 0

Set to 0: PID output feature is positive control. When the target value is over the feedback value,
the frequency rises.
Set to 1: PID output feature is negative control. When the target value is over the feedback value,
the frequency falls.

Pr223 PID control proportional gain

Setting range: 0.0-2500.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 100.0%
Proportional gain (Kp): absolutely the regulating intensity of the whole PID regulator, the higher P
is the higher regulating intensity. When it is 100, it means the maximal frequency of adjusting
amplitude given by the PID regulator to the output frequency command when the deviation
between the PID feedback and given amount is 100% (the Integral action and differential action
are overlooked)

Pr224 PID control integration time

Setting range: 0.0-200.00S Unit: 0.01S Default value: 1.00S
Integration time (Ti): it determines the integration regulation speed of the PID regulator on PID
feedback and given deviation. The integration time refers to the time after which the regulation
amount achieves the highest frequency through the continued regulation by the integration
regulator (proportional action and differential action are overlooked) when the deviation between
the PID feedback and given amount is 100%. The shorter the integration time is, the higher the
regulating intensity. Integration time =0, disabled, i.e., the integration is disabled.

Pr225 Upper limit of PID integration

Setting range: 0.0-100.0% Unit: 0.1% Default value: 100.0%
It is used to set the maximal allowable integration regulation. If the integration value is over this
value, it will be limited by the value.

Pr226 PID control differential time

Setting range: 0.0-3.0S Unit: 0.1S Default value: 0.0S
 Differential time (Td): it determines the regulating intensity by the PID regulator onto the
deviation between PID feedback and given amount. The differential time means that when
the feedback amount changes 100% in the time, the regulating intensity of the differential
regulator is the highest frequency (the proportional and integration actions are overlooked).
The longer the differential time is, the higher the regulating intensity. Differential time=0
disabled, i.e., the differential is disabled.
 PID closed-loop control is the most common control method in process control, each part of
which plays different roles. The following is the brief introduction of its working principle
and regulating method:
 Proportional regulation (P): when there is deviation between the feedback and given amount,
the proportional regulation exists between the output and deviation. If the deviation is
constant, the regulation amount is also constant. The proportional regulation can quickly
respond to the feedback change, but the single application proportional regulation can not
achieve the isochronous control. The higher the proportional gain is, the faster the system
regulation, but an excessively high gain can result in oscillation. You can firstly set the
integration and differential time to 0, and then make the system run by singly using the
proportional regulation. Observe the stable deviation between the feedback signal and the
given amount (static difference), and if the static difference is on the changing direction of
the given amount (for example, increase the given amount, and the total feedback amount
after the system stabilizes is below the given amount), you can increase the gain further; if
not, you can reduce the gain. Repeat the above processes until the static difference is low (it
is hard to have no static difference at all).

60
 Integration time (I): when there is deviation between the feedback and given amount, the
output regulating intensity accumulates continuously. If the deviation persists, you can
continue to increase the regulating intensity until the deviation disappears. The integration
regulator can effectively get rid of static difference. A strong integration regulator will
promote the repeated over-regulation resulting in the instable system until it produces
oscillation. The regulation of integration time is often adjusted from big to small to gradually
adjust the integration time. Observe the result of system regulation until the system stability
and regulated speed meet the requirement.
 Differential time (D): when the deviation between the feedback and given time changes, it
outputs the proportional regulation amount with the deviation change rate, and the regulating
amount is only related to the direction and size of the deviation change, not to the direction
and size of the deviation per se. the differential regulation can regulate according to the
change trend when the feedback signal changes so as to suppress the change of feedback
signal. Be cautious to use the differential regulator because it tends to amplify the system
interference, esp., interferences with high change frequency.

Appendix
MODBUS Communications Protocol of LSD-G/F7000 Series

The converters of LSD-G/F7000 series provides the RS485 communication interface and adopts
the internationally standard ModBus serial communication protocol for the host-slave
communication. You can use controllers such as PC, PLC, and touch screen as the upper computer
to realize the centralized control (set the control command for converters, run operation, modify
related parameters, monitor operation state of converters, and fault messages) for different
applications.

1. Protocol content
The ModBus serial protocol defines the frame content and using format of asynchronous
communication in the serial communication. It includes: the format of host polling and
broadcast frames, response frames from slaves; host organizational test frames include: slave
address (or broadcast address), executive command, data and error check, etc. The slave
response also adopts the same structure, and it includes: action confirmation, returned data
and error check, etc. If a fault in a slave when it is receiving a frame or unable to perform the
action required by the host, it will organize a fault frame to responds to the host.

2. How to respond
Converters of LSD-G/F7000 series are connected to the single-host-multi-slave control
network with RS232/RS485 bus.

3. Bus structure
(1) Interface
RS485 hardware interface.
(2) How to transmit
Half-duplex asynchronous serial. On the same time point, only one sends data while
the other receives between a host and slave. Data in the asynchronous serial
communication are sent frame-by-frame in the form of messages.
(3) Topology
Single-host-multi-slave system. The slave addresses can be set to 1-127, and 0 is the
address for broadcast communication. The slave address in the network is unique.
This is the base of ensure the ModBus serial communication.

4. Protocol description
The communication protocol of converters of LSD-G/F7000 series is the master-slave
ModBus suppressing the asynchronous serial. In the network, there is only one device (host)
which can set up protocol called “inquiry/command”, and other devices (slaves) can only
respond to the established “inquiry/command” by providing data or make corresponding
actions according to the “inquiry/command” from the host. The host is the upper computer
such as the PC, touch screen, and PLC, while slaves are converters of LSD-G/F7000 series or
other control devices with the same protocol. The host can communicate to a certain slave as
well as broadcast messages to all slaves. For the “inquiry/command” solely visited by the host,
the slave will respond a message called answer, while for the broadcast from the host, it is not
necessary for slaves to respond messages to the host.

5. Data structure of communication frame

The data structure of ModBus protocol in converters of LSD-G/F7000 series is RTU (remote
terminal Unit). And the format of each byte is as follows:
Coding system: 8-digit binary, hexadecimal 0-9, A-F, and each 8-digital frame domain has 2
hexadecimal characters.
The byte bit is described in the following table:

67
8-Date bits 字元串 8-Date bits string
10-bits 字元框 10-bits character box
RTU 数据帧格式 RTU data frame format
MODBUS 报文 MODBUS message
从机地址 Slave address
功能码 Command code

校验 Testing
间隔 Interval

Standard RTU structure:

Slave address (Addr) Communication address 1-127, 0 is the broadcast address
Command code (CMD) 03H: read slave parameters and states
06H: write slave parameters and control command
86H: write slave parameters RAM and control command
Data (0) Data formed with 2*N bytes
Data (1)… This is the main part of communication,
Data (N-1) and the core of data exchange in communication
Low CRC CHK Low CRC-16 check value Set Pr214 to exchange the two
High CRC CHK High CRC-16 check value

In the RTU mode, a new message frame must lag behind for a certain time the previous one, as
shown in the following figure:

PCL 变频器 PCL frequency converter

指令信息 Command message
应答信息 Answer message
间隔时间 Interval
应答延时 Answer delay
68
The frame-to-frame interval changes according to the Pr212 setting (baud rate):
Set to 1: 1200bps Interval 10ms Set to 4: 9600bps Interval 4ms
Set to 2: 2400bps Interval 8ms Set to 5: 19200bps Interval 2ms
Set to 3: 4800bps Interval 6ms

6. Example of command code and communication data:

6.1 Command code: 03H(0000 0011), read data of N words from a slave (maximally 16 words
continuously for a time).
For example, if it reads for a time the data of two sequential addresses including start address
3001H (run frequency) and 3002H (output current) from the slave at address 01H,, the structure of
the frames is described as follows:

The commands to be sent from the RTU host are as follows:

Slave address (Addr) 01H Note: divide the data to 2 bytes
Command code (CMD) 03H Note: address of the slave inquired
High start address 30H Note: 03H is the read command
Low start address 01H
Read high data number 00H Note: divide 3001H address into 2 bytes
Read low data number 02H Note: this is the number of words
Low CRC-16 check 9AH Note: the CRC value should be divided into 2 after the
High CRC-16 check CBH host calculation, and the low is in the front in default.

If the 3001H (run frequency) of 01H slave is 1388H (50.00Hz), and 3002H (output current)
address data is 56H (8.6A), the RTU slave will respond the following message to the host after it
receives the data correctly.

Slave address (Addr) 01H Note: address of the slave inquired

Command code (CMD) 03H Note: 03H is the read command
Data bytes 04H Note: this is the responded bytes, not words.
High data address 3001H 13H Note: divide 3001H address data into 2 bytes
Low data address 3001H 88H
High data address 3002H 00H Note: divide 3002H address data into 2 bytes
Low data address 3002H 56H
Low CRC-16 check FEH Note: the CRC value should be divided into 2 after the
High CRC-16 check A3H host calculation, and the low is in the front in default.

6.2 Command code: 06H (0000 0110), write data of one word (maximally one word for a time).
For example, after write data 5000 (1388H) to 2001H (RS485 frequency) address of a salve
address of 01H, the frame will be described as follows:

69
The command that should be sent by the RTU host is as follows:
Slave address (Addr) 01H Note: address of the slave inquired
Command code (CMD) 06H Note: 06H is the write command
High write address 20H Note: divide 2001H address to 2 bytes
Low write address 01H
High data content 13H Note: divide the data content into 2 bytes
Low data content 88H
Low CRC-16 check DEH Note: the CRC value should be divided into 2 after
High CRC-16 check 9CH the host calculation, and the low is in the front in
default.

When the slave converter receives correctly and Pr215 is set to 1 (response to write), the RTU
slave will respond the same data frame to the RTU host:

The message that should be responded from the RTU slave to the RTU host is as follows:

Slave address (Addr) 01H Note: address of the slave inquired

Command code (CMD) 06H Note: 06H is the read command
High write address 20H Note: 06H is the read command
Low write address 01H Note: divide 2001H address to 2 bytes
High data content 13H Note: divide the data content into 2 bytes
Low data content 88H
Low CRC-16 check DEH Note: the CRC value should be divided into 2 after
High CRC-16 check 9CH the host calculation, and the low is in the front in
default.

6.3 Command code: 86H(1000 0110), write data of one word to the slave RAM.
The command code is basically the same with “06H” command code, except in one point which is
shown as follows:
Due to frequency saving operation to EEPROM (internal parameter memory of converters), its
service life will be shortened. As for users, it is not necessary to write some parameters in the
communication mode into EEPROM, and it meets the requirement by just changing the values in
the internal RAM. “86H” command code can realize this function.
This code different from “06H” aims mainly at the write-parameters of converters such as
Pr000-Pr315. For commands not operating EEPROM such as start, stop/no operation, “86H” is the
same with “06H”.

6.4 Mode of checking communication frame error

It mainly includes the two parts of byte bit check (odd/even check) and the data check of the
whole frame (CRC check).
6.4.1 Byte bit check
You can according to your demand select different check methods, as well as no-check,
which will affect the setting check bit of each byte. The meaning of even check: affix an even
check bit before data transmission to express whether the number of “1” in the transmission is
even or odd, if it is even, the check bit is “0”, if not it is “1” to keep data parity unchanged. The
meaning of odd check: affix an odd check bit before data transmission to express whether the
number of “1” in the transmission is even or odd, if it is odd, the check bit is “0”, if not it is “1” to
keep data parity unchanged. For example, if you want to transmit “10001010” which includes 3
“1”, in the even check, the check bit is “1”, while in the odd check, it is “0”. In data transmission,
the odd/even check bit is calculated to keep the check bit position in the communication frame
byte, and the receiving device should also conducts the check. If it is found the parity of the
calculated data is not consistent with the preset value, it means there is a fault in the
communication.

70
6.4.2 CRC method (Cyclical Redundancy Check)
Use the RTU frame format, and the frame includes the calculated frame error detection field
based on CRC. The CRC field inspects the data content of the whole frame. The CRC field is 2
bytes and includes the 16-digit binary value. It is added to the frame after being calculated by the
transmission device. And the receiving device recalculates the CRC in the received frame content
and compares it with the value in the received CRC field. If the two CRC values are not equal, it
means that there is a data transmission error.
The following is the process of CRC calculation:
The RC check calculation result is saved in a data (16-digit) with the initial value of FFFFH. Put
the data package to send (slave address, command code and data), fixed value A001H together for
the XOR and displacement calculation. After the calculation completes, the data includes the
check sum value.
The check and calculation are performed in the following method:
1) The initial value of the 16-digit data for calculation must be set to FFFFH.
2) You must use the initial value and slave address for XOR operation.
3) The result must be moved right till the overflow bit becomes 1.
4) When the overflow bit becomes 1, you must use the result from step 3 and fixed value of
A001H for XOR operation.
5) After 8 times of shift operation (every time the overflow bit becomes 1, you must
perform the XOR operation as described in step 4), use the result of last operation and
the data package of the next operation (8-digit command code) for XOR operation. The
result of this operation must be further shifted 8 times. Whenever the overflow bit is 1,
it must perform the XOR operation with the fixed value of A001H.
6) Process data in the same steps. Firstly process the high byte, then the low byte, until all
data are processed.
7) The result of the operations is the check sum formed with a high byte and a low byte.

Note: to add the check sum to the data frame, you should first add the low byte then the high byte.

The CRC calculation method is the internationally standard check rule. In editing CRC algorithm,
you can refer to related standard CRC algorithms and compile a CRC calculation program meeting
your requirement.
The following is a function example of CRC calculation for your reference (C language)

Unsigned char data-----------Data buffer pointer

Unsigned char lengh----------Data length in data buffer

Send the function back to CRC value of unsigned integer

6.5 Definition of communication data address
This part is on the definition of communication data address to control the operation of converters,
obtain the status information, access and set related function parameters.
(1)The command code SN is the address of the exclusive register of a parameter, and it must be
converted to the hexadecimal number. For example, the SN of Pr058 is 58, its address in the
hexadecimal system is 003AH. Range of high and low bytes: high byte 00-01, low byte 00-FF.
Note: some parameters can not be modified when the converter is in operation, while some can
be changed no matter it is in operation or not. What should be clarified is that the values of
parameters Pr210-Pr215 can not be changed via communication for safe operation, yet can be
accessed. In modifying function parameter values, you should pay attention to their setting
range, read and write property, units, and related notes.

(2)Description of function addresses

6.6 Additional response in communication error

If an error occurs when the communication connection of the converter is being established, the
converter will respond to the error code and answer to the main control system in the fixed format
to let it know that there is an error occurred. In communication faults, no matter what the
command code sent by the host is such as “03H”, “06H” or “86H”, the fault answer command
byte of the converter will be responded as “06H”, and the fixed data address is 5001H. For
example, the response when the parameter value written by the RTU host to the RTU slave is over
the allowed range will be as follows: the message responded from the RTU slave to the RTU host:

Slave address (Addr) 01H Note: address of the slave inquired

Command code (CMD) 06H Note: it is fixed to 06H in communication fault
High address of fault response 50H Note: the fixed response address is 5001H
Low address of fault response 01H
High error code 00H Note: divide the data content into 2 bytes
Low error code 01H
Low CRC-16 check 09H Note: the CRC value should be divided into 2 after
High CRC-16 check 09H the host calculation, and the low is in the front in
default.

The error code responded here is 0005H, meaning “illegal data”. The definition of error code is the
same with that of the data at 5001H (ModBus communication fault).
