Student Attendance Monitoring System Using RFID

Statistical Treatment

The formula used to get the total number of respondents is the Slovin’s formula which

was used in random and purposive sampling.

𝑁
Slovin’s Formula: 𝑛=
1+𝑁𝑒 2

Where:

n = Number of Samples

N = Total Population

e = Margin of Error

Breakdown of Respondents

The breakdown of the respondents was based on purposive sampling where samples were

chosen based on the number of respondents from Senior high school students of Asian Institute

of Computer Studies school year 2017 to 2018. The number of respondents also divided from 26

male and 24 female.

CLASSIFICATION NUMBER PERCENTAGE

Male 26 52%

Female 24 48%

Total 50 100%
The respondents were composed of 50 students from Asian Institute of Computer Studies

given the choice of either agree or disagree upon implementing RFID attendance monitoring

system in AICS. The respondents were also divided into male and female students.

z = Z – Test Value

𝑥̅ = Sample Mean

𝜇 = Mean of Population

𝜎 = Standard Deviation

Advantages of Attendance Monitoring System (RFID)

𝐱̅ Z –Value Tabular Value Decision

0.4225 -0.2104 0.4168 Reject Ho

The table above shows the results computed from the answers of the respondents based

from the statistical treatment used for the study. The tabular value computed is 0.4168 and this

means that 41.68% is not within the critical value and rejects the null hypothesis so the decision

is to accept the alternative hypothesis and proves that attendance monitoring system using RFID

technology lessens the consumption time in recording the data for the attendance of the students.

Possible Problems of Attendance Monitoring System (RFID)

𝐱̅ Z –Value Tabular Value Decision

0.3833 -0.2172 0.4129 Reject Ho

The computed results showed from the table above are based on test statistics. The

computed tabular value is 0.4129 and it means that null hypothesis is rejected because 41.29% is

not within the critical value range. The decision for this is accept the alternative hypothesis from

which states that there are possible problems when using the attendance monitoring system but

these will not affect the functions of the system and that the system will still run conveniently.

Security Threats of Attendance Monitoring System (RFID)

𝐱̅ Z –Value Tabular Value Decision

0.9078 -0.2102 0.4168 Reject Ho

The results showed in the table above are computed through test statistics. Tabular value

computed from the number of answers of the respondents from the survey is 0.4168. This means

that 41.68% is not within the critical value and the decision is to reject the null hypothesis.

Therefore, alternative hypothesis is accepted and proves that students can still use the RFID card

to continue the class but they will not be logged in to the attendance monitoring system if they

are from a specific span of time of a class or a subject.

Based on the three tables above, as all of its decision is reject null hypothesis, and proves

that the functions of the attendance monitoring system will still run effectively even though it has

few problems, implementation of attendance monitoring system using RFID is helpful and has a

big effect and advantage for Asian Institute of Computer Studies.
