Rationale Learning the elements and principles of art is


important to a student’s education, because it
allows a creative outlet. By learning these basic
elements and principles students will be able to
gain a larger understanding of the subject and
can create their own art.

1. Can you infer what hue or intensity may
be? (0:26)
Answer: Hue is what makes color, color.
Intensity is brightness or boldness of a
color.
2. Compare color and value. (0:51)
Answer: There can be different values of
color. Value is a characteristic of color.
3. Suppose someone’s painting of a pillow
appeared to be fluffy but it was
physically a smooth surface, would this
still be considered texture? (1:46)
Answer: Yes, it would still be texture
because it looked as though it really
was fluffy.

Answer: Patterns can be found within
rhythm like the circles making a pattern
in the example.

2. What is the difference in the balance of


the butterfly and the arrow? (3:18)
Answer: The butterfly is the same on
both sides, so it has symmetrical
balance. The arrow has more on one
side than the other, so it has
asymmetrical balance.
3. What features of the “E” make it stand
out from the other letters? (3:33)
Answer: The “E” is larger in size and a
much brighter color.

drawing?
Answer: Color could be added into my
drawing to add more emphasis.
3. Can you identify the type of balance
your drawing has?
Answer: My drawing has asymmetrical
balance because one part stands out
more than the rest of it.
Answer: My drawing has symmetrical
balance because the visual weight is
evenly distributed, and the emphasized
content is in the center.
