to'make'a'movie'was'iMovie.'This'learning'activity'can'support'the'UDL'principles'and'enhances'the'learning'
experience'for'all'students.'As'a'reminder,'the'principles'for'the'UDL'are'representation'(the'“what”'of'
learning),'expression'(the'“how”'of'learning),'and'engagement'(the'“why”'of'learning).'iMovie,'and'creating'
movies'in'general,'is'a'great'tool'for'providing'multiple'means'of'representation.'Information'can'be'
displayed'in'word'form'with'added'pictures,'as'well'as'with'an'audio'narration.'This'ensures'that'all'types'of'
learners'(auditory,'visual,'etc.)'are'able'to'receive'the'information'in'a'way'that'works'for'them.'For'the'

the'traditional'lecture'lesson.'Also,'students'are'more'likely'to'stay'engaged'in'the'lesson'if'they'are'given'the'
opportunity'to'take'on'the'teacher?role,'use'their'creativity,'and'showcase'the'content'in'a'way'that'works'

This'lesson'is'meant'to'be'an'assessment'towards'the'end'of'a'unit'on'the'characteristics'of'functions'so'
students'can'showcase'what'they'know.'This'project'should'take'about'3'days'to'complete.'For'this'project,'
students'will'divide'into'groups'of'4?5'members'each.'Within'each'group,'each'student'will'take'one'
characteristic'and'create'a'movie'about'it.'The'characteristics'they'have'to'choose'from'are'x?intercepts,'y?
intercepts,'increasing/decreasing'intervals,'end?behavior,'and'maximum/minimums.'Each'person'in'the'group'
will'be'in'charge'of'a'different'characteristic.'So,'when'students'are'creating'their'movie,'they'will'be'required'
to'discuss'their'characteristic,'what'it'looks'like'on'a'graph,'how'to'find'it'on'a'graph,'how'to'find'it'using'an'
equation,'and'provide'examples'of'solving'for'the'characteristic.'Within'each'movie,'students'will'be'asked'to'
be'creative'through'the'use'transitions,'sound'effects,'narration,'videos,'and'anything'else'they'can'think'of'
to'make'their'movie'unique.'Once'the'students'are'done,'each'student'will'share'their'movie'with'their'
group.'By'doing'this,'students'get'the'opportunity'to'share'their'created'work'and'also'learn'about'the'
characteristics'that'their'other'group'members'had.''

For'this'project,'I'plan'to'assess'students'and'provide'feedback'in'two'ways.'First,'I'will'monitor'students'as'
they'are'completing'their'movies.'I'will'help'with'the'technology,'provide'feedback,'and'redirection'if'needed.'
I'will'also'assess'students'at'the'end'of'the'project.'Once'a'student'completes'their'movie,'they'will'submit'it'
to'me.'After'I'receive'each'student’s'movie,'I'will'evaluate'them'to'see'how'well'students'understood'the'
content'and'provide'them'with'the'necessary'feedback.'While'grading,'if'I'notice'common'misconceptions,'I'
will'take'time'to'review'over'those'during'class'in'order'to'correct'those'misconceptions.'Also,'if'I'notice'that'
a'student'included'more'audio'or'video'in'their'movie,'then'that'will'indicate'to'me'that'that'student'may'be'
more'of'an'auditory'or'visual'learner.'This'will'then'inform'me'on'how'to'differentiate'my'future'lessons.'In'
order'to'extend'the'student'learning,'I'plan'on'having'each'student'create'their'own'sample'problem.'After'
presenting'their'assigned'characteristic,'the'other'group'member'will'have'to'solve'for'that'characteristic'
using'a'sample'problem'the'presenter'created.'This'will'challenge'students'to'think'of'what'types'of'problems'
they'can'create,'and'also'challenge'students'to'solve'different'types'of'problems.''

The'use'of'multimedia'authoring'tools'is'essential'to'this'project.'Without'them,'students'would'not'be'able'
to'combine'still'imagines,'video,'and'audio'into'one'movie.'So,'this'project'unfortunately'cannot'be'done'
without'the'use'of'this'technology.'However,'during'this'lesson,'students'will'have'access'to'other'types'of'
technologies'to'complete'the'project'such'as,'audio'recording,'video'recording,'editing'software,'and'
publishing'software.''

For'this'project,'I'did'not'take'inspiration'from'another'existing'multimedia'project.'However,'I'did'take'
inspiration'from'a'class'I'was'in'recently'that'was'discussing'the'characteristics'of'functions.'In'this'class,'it'
seemed'that'most'students'felt'confident'about'some'characteristics,'but'not'all'of'them.'This'is'when'I'came'
up'with'the'idea'of'students'researching'and'creating'a'product'to'show'what'they'know,'while'also'getting'

Since'this'lesson'requires'students'to'use'the'internet'and'other'technologies,'it'is'very'important'for'
students'to'practice'safe'internet'habits'and'to'protect'the'student’s'privacy.'In'order'to'minimize'risks'to'the'
students'and'myself,'I'have'several'strategies'to'keep'students'safe.'For'starters,'my'hope'for'the'lesson'is'
that'each'student'will'be'using'a'school'provided'computer'or'iPad.'Since'the'computer/iPad'will'be'school'
provided,'and'most'schools'usually'have'a'system'in'place'that'blocks'certain'websites,'students'can'
complete'the'activity'without'the'chance'of'something'non?school'appropriate'showing'up'on'their'
computer.'I'will'also'be'monitoring'student’s'computer'use'during'the'entire'lesson.'Another'way'students'
will'stay'safe'is'by'sharing'their'created'movie'with'just'their'peers'and'myself.'Since'they'are'not'sharing'

I'believe'this'lesson'can'impact'students'in'a'good'way.'For'starters,'this'lesson'gives'students'a'chance'to'use'

makes'the'information'relevant'to'students'because'they'are'given'the'flexibility'to'present'the'content,'and'
