INTRODUCTION

Research Questions (if research questions are not specifically mentioned, what
is the theoretical background or overarching theme): The overarching theme of
this article is how technology can improve the learning experience for students.

Purpose of the research: How perceptions influence technology in schools.

METHODOLOGY

What is the methodology for the research or approach used to understand the
issue? Provide information regarding the following:

Participants: Subjects are the principles in the large metropolitan area that
took a questionnaire.

Procedures: The questionnaire used 6 main questions: A) communication, (b)

instruction, (c) data sharing and management, (d) a resource, (e)
administrative tasks, and (f) student learning. Only 311 principles where given
the questionnaire.

Data Collection Methods/Data Source: Questionnaires and interviews.

Data Analysis: Data from the questionnaires showed how experience dictated
how the principle in question thought of technology and how they incorporated
technology. The data analysis received showed how other principles attitudes
directly influence other principles attitudes toward technology and their
leadership.

RESULTS

Findings or Results (or main points of the article): One third of the principles
believed that technology is primarily a communications tool, one fourth of the
principles integrated technology into classroom instructions. The rest of the principles
had a mixed response, such as data sharing, as a resource, or as student learning.

DISCUSSIONS

Conclusions/Implications (for your profession): My conclusion is that principles as

leaders are the leading influencers when it comes to what happens in their school and
are in charge of monitoring and evaluating their implementation of technology.

REFLECTIONS

Student’s Reflections (changes to your understanding; implications for your

school/work): Some implications for my work or potential work as an IT/teacher for
my old high school is that depending on how my boss (the principle) views what
technology is good for. Because of that it is my understanding that it is my
responsibility to talk to my boss and work out something to help his understanding on
how technology can help everyone.
