Overview

Students watching this video will learn the song Bickle Bockle, by working on starting notes, rhythm, phrase
painting, notation and finally adding an ostinato. I taught this using visuals on a white board, as well as my
ukulele for chords that help with intonation, as well as partwork when the ostinato is added in.

I Can Statements (learning goals)

● I can recognize and read the notation on the board.

○ VA SOL K.1 The student will read music, including high and low pitches and rhythms
represented by traditional or nontraditional notations
● I can sing the pitches of the song
○ VA SOL K.2.2 The student will investigate various uses of the voice by matching pitches
within an appropriate range
● I can clap the rhythm with and without the instructor
○ VA SOL K.5 The student will perform rhythmic patterns that include sounds and silences,
using instruments, body percussion, and voice.
