Reflection:

Kevin showed a lot of strengths in this lesson, a lot of which pertained to technique he gained

through the last lesson, where we focused more on fundamentals of embouchure and buzzing

technique than on anything else. There’s still a little bit more he can do with the upper range of

the Bb scale at times, but he showed more strengths than weaknesses during this lesson. The two

songs we worked on this time, “Jingle Bells” and “Happy Birthday” were chosen to hopefully

get him to adjust his embouchure for the higher register, and I thought he did well with

this. Blending technique from last lesson with rote songs on the actual instrument worked great,

and will hopefully help translate to more challenging pieces in the future.
