Digitizer Software CIR_1013* and higher Versions

Always use the installation instructions delivered with the Software.

SCOPE OF DELIVERY:

REQUIRED TOOLS:
 Service PC with USB port
 USB Stick with at least 10 MB free disk space.
Recommendation: As the digitizer is not able to read all kinds of USB sticks, use
the USB stick delivered with the digitizer.
The USB stick including software can also be ordered via order number*:
CM+6027410
* The last digit in the spare part number indicates the spare part revision at release of this
document. When ordering, the actual revision of the spare part is delivered.
REQUIRED TIME:
Approximately 15 minutes for the installation via USB Stick
NOTE:
Register a software upgrade in the local service management system as modification,
e.g. in SMS as “MOD”.
1 Introduction
This document provides following instructions:

2 Software Upgrade via USB Stick
The software upgrade via USB stick is performed in following steps:

2.1 Checking current Software Version
(1) Open the browser on the NX workstation.

(2) Enter the IP address of the digitizer in the address window.
NOTE:
If the IP address is not known: Press 'Ctrl + Shift + H' to get the browser history list.
For Internet Explorer Version 6 press the "History" button in the toolbar.
The IP address of the digitizer should be in the list.
(3) Enter username and password.

(4) Check the displayed software
version to ensure that the software
to be installed is higher than the
displayed software.

2.2 Taking out the Digitizer USB Stick
(1) Press both buttons at the feed A

table (A).
(2) Pull out the cassette unit (B).

CAUTION:
Parts underneath the top cover can be damaged.
Carefully remove the top cover. Follow the instructions as shown in next step.
(3) Remove two screws (A).

(4) Take off the top cover (B, C).

2.3 Preparing the USB Stick
(1) Extract all files from the downloaded zip file into a folder on the Service PC.
Contents of the ZIP file:
 Software package CIR_1013.zip*
 This document
 Depending on the software version a readme.txt
(2) Extract all files from CIR_1013.zip*.

Folder CIR_1013* is created automatically.

(3) Copy the folder “CIR_1013*“ and its contents to the

USB Memory Stick root directory.
(4) Go to folder “CIR_1013*” on the USB Memory Stick.

(5) Double click on: <Prepare_Installation.cmd>

 A DOS Box opens for a short time.
 The file startup.com is written to the root of the
USB stick
(6) Release the USB Memory Stick from the Service PC. 5175_ENC_401.cdr

2.4 Performing the Software Installation
IMPORTANT:
Do not switch off the digitizer during software installation as the Cassette Handling
Board is re-programmed during the software installation procedure.
(1) Pull out the cassette unit.

(2) Plug the USB stick into the
USB slot of the digitizer.
See Figure 7.
(3) Close the cassette unit.
(4) Switch on the digitizer. The
digitizer boots from USB stick.
(5) Wait until the digitizer LED is
green. This takes
approximately 3 minutes.

NOTE:
The digitizer LED activity sequence during software installation is as follows:
 Red blinking: Approx. 0,5 minutes
 Off: Approx. 0,5 minutes
 Red blinking: Approx. 2 minutes
 Green: After approx. 3 minutes


2.5 Creating a Backup
(1) In service menu <Backup>

select <Complete backup>
and <SAVE TO USB>.
(2) Unplug the USB stick when
the message is displayed:
Remove USB stick.
(3) Put the USB stick back in its
cover and mount the screw.
(4) Mount the top cover.

2.6 Verifying the Software Upgrade
Part 1: Checking the software version in the service user interface:

(1) In the digitizer service user interface go to menu: <Device Info>
(2) Check, that the installed software version is displayed.
(3) Select menu <Logout> and close the browser.
Part 2: Functional check:

(1) Insert cassette with unexposed IP in the digitizer.
(2) At the NX workstation select examination type “System diagnosis – Flatfield”.
(3) Select “ID” to identify the image: Scanning starts.
(4) Confirm that the image arrives at the NX workstation.
(5) Reject the image.
(6) Log-off user crservice.
Result: The digitizer software is updated.
NOTE:
For new features and solved bugs in this software refer to the digitizer chapter 3.8,
Software Releases, Patches, of the digitizer service manual.

3.1 Software Upgrade via Browser
NOTE:
Software upgrade via browser can be performed from any PC in the network.
It is tested with Firefox 3 and 4 and Internet Explorer 6, 7 and 8.

(2) Copy the software ZIP file CIR_1013.zip* from the Service PC to the PC in the
network.
(3) Open the browser.
(4) Enter the IP address of the digitizer in the address window.

NOTE:

The IP address of the digitizer should be in the list.


(5) Enter username and

password.
(6) Check the current software
version to ensure that the
software to be installed is
higher than the displayed
software version.
(7) Select menu: <Software
Installation> Figure 9
(8) Browse for the software ZIP file.

(9) Select: <Upload and Install Software>
(10) Wait until the digitizer reboots automatically and the digitizer LED gets green.
This takes approximately 3 minutes.
(11) Take out the digitizer USB stick from its cover. See section 2.2.
(12) Create a backup. See section 2.5.
(13) Verify the software upgrade. See section 2.6.
3.2 Software Installation on a new CF Card
(1) Take out the digitizer USB stick. See section 2.2.

(3) Extract all files from CIR_1013.zip*.

Folder CIR_1013* is created automatically.

(4) Copy the folder “CIR_1013*“ and its contents to the

USB Memory Stick root directory.
(5) Go to folder “CIR_1013” on the USB Memory Stick.

(6) Double click on: <Prepare_Formatting.cmd>

 A DOS Box opens for a short time.
 The file startup.com is written to the root of the

NOTE:
After software installation on a new CF card the digitizer LED will usually not get
green. Reason: The destination information is not available anymore. This is only
available after restoring the latest backup.
(9) In service menu <Restore> select <Restore from

USB> to restore the latest backup. See also the
IMPORTANT note below.
IMPORTANT:
 The backup is a file with following syntax:
Backup_<DigitizerSN>_<YYYYMMDD>.zip
If the backup is not available, following data are lost:
o Digitizer configuration, except digitizer network settings. The network settings
are stored in an EPROM on the CPMI board.
o Logfiles
o Infocounter
In this case it is required to perform the digitizer configuration. For details refer to
chapter 1, Controls, Connections and Set-up Procedure, of the digitizer service
manual.
 IF CF card and CPMI board are replaced simultaneously, the digitizer network
settings are lost. A restore is not possible in this case, as the browser connection
is not available anymore. To solve this issue the network settings have to be set to
factory default. For instructions refer to chapter 3.3, Troubleshooting, of the
digitizer service manual.


(10) Unplug the USB stick when the message is displayed: Remove USB stick.
(11) Put the USB stick back in its cover and mount the screw.
(12) Mount the top cover.
(14) Verify the software installation. See section 2.6.
