Chapter 11 WIRE FRAME MODEL

Profiles

NOTE: A profile can be of any simple shape.

Models

A. Create Front View Profile.

Step 1. If necessary create a new Mastercam file, click File Menu > New.

Step 2. Change to the Front View. Use or Alt-2. Graphic View is

changed to GVIEW = FRONT at the bottom left corner of the
drawing area.

Step 3. Click Create Menu > Line > Create Line Endpoint. Or click the

Line Tool in the toolbar.

Step 4. Draw the lines in Fig. 1. Use the grid to determine the location of
the lines. Fig. 1

Step 5. Press ESC to close the ribbon bar.

B. Rotate Profile.
Step 1. Make a marque selection around the geometry. Click in the top left corner outside the ge-
ometry to start the selection. Drag to selection around all the geometry and click to com-
plete. The geometry should change color when selected.

Step 2. Change to the Isometric View. Use or Alt-7.

Step 3. Click the down arrow of the Set Planes button in the
toolbar and click Set Planes to TOP relative to your WCS,

Step 4. Click Xform Menu > Xform Rotate.

Step 5. Set: Join Fig. 3

Click OK .

Step 6. Click Fit or use Alt-F1 to fit the draw-

ing on the screen.

Step 7. Right click the drawing area and click Clear

Colors from the menu or use Alt-R C.

C. Check Other Views.

Take a look at the other views. Use Alt-2 for
Front View. Fig. 3 Fig. 4

Try Dynamic View, click the Dynamic View button and click your drawing. Move
the cursor to change the view. Click to stop.

D. Set Construction Plane To Isometric View.

Step 1. Click the down arrow of the Set Planes button in the tool bar and click Set planes to
named view, Fig 5.

Step 2. Click Iso from the View Selection dialog box and click OK
.

Step 3. Change to the Isometric View. Use or Alt-7.

E. Add Your Name and Period To Drawing.

Step 1. Use Page Down to reduce the drawing. Use Create Menu Fig. 5
> Drafting > Create Note to add your names and period to
the drawing.

F. Save Your File.

Step 1. Use File Menu > Save As. Key-in wire1 for a filename and press ENTER.
