CONTINGENCY PLAN: Pronunciation of “used to” (usta).

This lesson is planned for a Foundations C Grammar Class at the ELC. This course

focuses on the learning and application of traditional grammar structures and concepts in both

speaking and writing.

This specific lesson is to introduce a specific grammar concept—using the phrase “used

to” to express past habits. The textbook used is Betty Azar’s Fundamentals of English Grammar.

I presented the grammar concept, gave the students opportunities to practice using the concept

with guided exercises, and asked students to produce their own language using this concept. I

also focused on vocabulary with an activity focused on describing words using the strategy of

circumlocution.
