‘Virtual Sports’ are events which are not real – they’re virtual. They’re a computer simulation of real life events. As a
customer, you can bet on the outcome of a Virtual Sport such as the outcome of a Virtual Horse Race, Virtual
Greyhound Race, Virtual Speedway Race and Virtual Motor Races.
The attractiveness of Virtual Sports to some bettors is that they’re partly a game of skill because you can study
form to make informed decisions about which contender will win – but just like in real life, luck plays a huge part.
Virtual sports cannot be LAYED at Betfair.
There are bookmakers that run regular o ers on Virtual Sports and it’s possible to use these o ers to generate
healthy value and pro t out of them.
The most popular Virtual Sports o er is the Risk Free Virtual Bet. If your Virtual Bet loses, you’ll receive a free bet
up to a speci c value to use on another virtual event
One of the most popular o ers is bet £5 on a virtual event and get a £5 free virtual bet. While this may look like
gambling at rst, as the bets can not be LAYED the advantage is actually in our favour.
EXAMPLE
Consider we bet £5 on a virtual event with odds of 2.0. 50% of the time we will win and 50% 0f the time we will lose.
This will trigger our free £5 bet. We will bet on an event with odds of 2.0 again. The odds imply again that we will
win 50% of the time and lose the free bet 50% of the time.
The table shows us that there is only 1 outcome out of the 4 where we would lose money.
This technique is known as ADVANTAGE PLAY as there is no way of LAYING the bets but the advantage is in our
favour.
