Stump Speech Outline

INTRODUCTION
I am a man who believes that, when run effectively, government can help to solve societal
problems. Government is not the enemy. In Tony Demarco’s absence this district will need a
representative with strong community values, someone who stands up for what’s right, someone who
will think with your best interest in mind, and someone who is hardworking, with a strong drive to
succeed and bring change. As your Democratic candidate I would like to bring more opportunity and
equality to this district. I will do this by fighting towards focusing our time, energy and funding on
policies that will ensure a great future and bring big change to the present.

NATIONAL HEALTH CARE PARAGRAPH

The only way to do this is to build a strong foundation within our communities. Strong
communities are made of strong people. I want to ensure that you will never have to worry about your
health and wellbeing and that of your family. With a single-payer system every baby, mother, father,
brother, sister, aunt, uncle, and grandparent will be covered to receive healthcare. National health
care is the only long-term solution that will benefit people on all ends of the socio-economic spectrum
and improve the quality of life for so many. Another way I want to build our relationships within the
district is by supporting affirmative action. I take it as a personal responsibility to protect the rights of
those I represent and especially those who are already under-represented and continually denied their
rights.

TAX REFORM PARAGRAPH

When I go to Washington I will vote in favor of tax reform to bring redistribute income to the
working class, to you, the people. Tax reformation policies will serve the citizens of this district by
providing more opportunity. Opportunity to save more, invest more, vacation more, splurge more. An
opportunity to get ahead.

ENVIRONMENT PARAGRAPH
Another issue that I want to focus on is sustainability. I want to make your dwelling and the
areas you all call home more efficient, cleaner, and healthier. The damage that has been done to our
environment is irreversible but its not too late to start making changes to save our planet. I will be
supporting pro-environment policies because I believe that by doing so I am supporting and protecting
everyone’s best interest. If we spend our time and money on all of these other issues but lose the planet
we inhabit, we will have nothing to worry about at all.
