Reflection in Cartesian coordinate

ACTIVITY
SUB ACTIVITY 1
1. Plot coordinate point A (3, 4)
2. Draw line segment that perpendicular to the X-axis from point A
3. Measure the distance from point A to the X-axis. How many unit the distance from point
A to the X-axis?
4. Determine the point A’ so as the line that connecting point A and A’ (called the AA’ line)
is perpendicular to the X-axis and X-axis divides the line AA’ into 2 equal parts. Put point
at point A’. What is the coordinate of point A’’? (Note: point A’ is the result of point A
reflection to the X-axis.
5. Are the x-coordinates of point A and A’ same? Are the y-coordinates of point A and A’
opposite?

SUB ACTIVITY 2
1. Plot coordinate point B (2, 3)
2. Draw line segment that perpendicular to the Y-axis from point B.
3. Measure the distance from point B to the Y-axis. How many unit the distance from point
B to the Y-axis?
4. Determine the point B’ so as the line that connecting point B and B’ (called the BB’ line)
is perpendicular to the Y-axis and Y-axis divides the line BB’ into 2 equal parts. Put point
at point B’. What is the coordinate of point B’’? (Note: point B’ is the result of point B
reflection to the Y-axis.
5. Are the y-coordinates of point A and A’ same? Are the x-coordinates of point A and A’
opposite?

SUB ACTIVITY 3
1. Plot coordinate point C (4, 4)
2. Draw line segment that perpendicular to the Y-axis from point C.
3. Measure the distance from point C to the origin point (0, 0). How many units the
distance from point c to the origin point (0, 0?
4. Determine the point C’ so as the line that connecting point C and C’ (called the CC’ line)
is perpendicular to the origin point and divides the line CC’ into 2 equal parts. Put point
at point C’. What is the coordinate of point C’’? (Note: point C’ is the result of point C
reflection to the origin point.
5. Are the x and y-coordinate of point C and C’ opposite?

SUB ACTIVITY 4
1. Plot coordinate point D (4, 5).
2. Draw line y = x at Cartesian coordinates then draw a line segment that perpendicular to
the origin point from point D.
3. Draw line segment that perpendicular to line y = x from point D.
4. Measure the distance from point D to line y = x How many units the distance from point
D to line y = x?
5. Determine the point D’ so as the line that connecting point D and D’ (called the DD’ line)
is perpendicular to line y = x and divides the line DD’ into 2 equal parts. Put point at
point D’. What is the coordinate of point D’’? (Note: point D’ is the result of reflection
point D to the line y = x.
6. Are the coordinate x and y from point D and D’ are reversed?

SUB ACTIVITY 5
1. Plot coordinate point D (5, 7).
2. Draw line y = -x at Cartesian coordinates then draw a line segment that perpendicular to
the origin point from point E.
3. Draw line segment that perpendicular to line y = -x from point E.
4. Measure the distance from point E to line y = -x How many units the distance from point
E to line y = -x?
5. Determine the point E’ so as the line that connecting point E and E’ (called the EE’ line) is
perpendicular to line y = -x and divides the line EE’ into 2 equal parts. Put point at point
E’. What is the coordinate of point EE’’? (Note: point E’ is the result of reflection point E
to the line y = -x.
6. Are the coordinate x and y from point E and E’ are reversed and opposite?
