    Mouth -chew and grinds food using the


    teeth
    -The salivary glands secrete saliva
    which contains an enzyme
    called amylase.
    · Amylase digests starch and convert
    it to maltose (a type of
    sugar)
    Oesophagus -bolus-shaped food is moved from
    the mouth to the stomach along the
    oesophagus by wave-like muscular
    contractions called peristalsis.

    Liver dan gall bladder -Liver produce bile juice and store in
    gall bladder. Bile juice emulsify fat
    into small globules.

    Stomach -secretes gastric juices which


    contains protease and hydrochloric
    acid which kill the bacteria in food.
    -Protease enzyme convert protein
    into polypeptide.
    Pancreas and Duodenum Pancreas produce pancreatic juice
    and store in duodenum.
    Pancreatic juice contains:
    Amylase – starch into maltose
    Protease – polypeptide into peptide
    Lipase – fat into glycerol and fatty
    acid

    intestine completes the digestion of
    protein, carbohydrates and fat.
    Intestinal juice contains maltase, and
    protease enzyme.
    Maltase – maltose into glucose
    Protease – peptides into amino acid
