CONSCIOUS TIME
Purpose
This Paraliminal session guides you into a beneficial relationship with time,
directing your energy in ways that help fulfill your passions and purpose
while handling your day-to-day responsibilities.

Before Listening
Time is valuable although we often fritter it away. Imagine what your life
would be like if you truly valued your time, always having the right amount
for all that is important and meaningful.
In such a life, you naturally and carefully choose how you spend your
time—perhaps allocating it prudently and precisely, perhaps giving it away
generously and freely, perhaps investing your time toward a future goal,
walking through the woods, or listening to music… always spending your
time intentionally because you value your time.
This Paraliminal helps you create a deeply positive relationship with time
that feels free, happy, and potent. Before listening to this session, ask
yourself the following:
• Are you ready to let go of self-limiting and self-defeating thoughts and
behaviors that give away your power regarding time? For example, if
4

you have said, “I don’t have enough time to take care of myself,” are you
ready to let go of that thought and begin finding ways you can take care of
yourself? Or, if you often arrive late because you have not planned well,
then make excuses that cast you in the victim role, are you ready to let go
of such behaviors and negative consequences?
• Are you willing to enter into a purely beneficial relationship with time? A
relationship that is adventurous, creative, and enriching, that enables you to
create your highest and best in this world?
If your answers are yes, begin listening. If you are not yet sure of the
commitment you want to make, go ahead and do the Paraliminal anyway to
gain new insights about time and its value to you.

How IT works
Time and money. Easy to spend and extremely valuable. But time is more
valuable, because it’s irreplaceable. When your money is gone, you can
invest your time to make more of it. However, there’s no amount of money
that will buy you more time. Once time is spent, it is gone forever.
And time, like money, when spent foolishly can be a source of regret. When
spent wisely it can be a source of immense satisfaction and reward. That is
why how you invest your time is so important—to your success, happiness,
and sense of well-being.
Some people think managing time is about making lists and being
organized. While that can certainly be helpful, making optimal use of your
time requires an entirely new way of looking at its value to you.
5

This Paraliminal is about changing the way you make meaning of time and
the way you make meaning of the relationship of time and money. It helps
you fundamentally transform your reality as you recognize the great worth
time has for you.
Instead of scheduling yourself to do this or that or go here or there, you will
start to ask yourself, “What is the best trade for this time?”
There is an economic aspect to time—trading the monetary value of your
work time for something tangible such as a new sweater, home, concert, or
vacation—and there is a spiritual aspect. Like money, time is a medium
through which your spiritual values come into the material world.
Everything you do in life—every action and non-action—is a choice,
even if the choice is unconscious. How you choose to invest your time
is an expression of who you are and your deepest values as reflected in
your work, hobbies, community commitments, and how you tend your
relationships.
This session helps you embrace yourself as fully able to make a difference
in the world. You gain the confidence and self-trust to direct your energy in
ways that best serve you.
As you become more consciously aware of the assumptions you hold about
time and the choices you make, you come to see the effect your application
of time’s unique value has on your passions and goals, your purpose and
dreams.

Best ways to use

Listen to this Paraliminal daily for about a week, and then periodically to
assist the ways you intentionally direct your life energy in all you do. This
section will give you additional insight and direction.

Pursuing Goals and Dreams

Time—or lack of—is an excuse for not pursuing dreams. It causes us to
abandon our capacity and ability up front. After all, why try something if
you believe ahead of time it cannot be done because you lack the time?
Listen to this Paraliminal when creating a new goal or tackling a challenge
you believe you never had the time for—getting a degree, changing careers,
writing a book, starting a business, completing a home improvement
project.
Whatever your goal, consider using something called the “best average
day” model. Imagine what your best average day would look like. This is
not your best ideal day, but your best average day. Creating an ideal day
every day is unrealistic, but an average day is attainable as well as one you
would love to live every day.
Visualize how you would spend your time. Write about it. Look in the
mirror and talk about it. What would this day look like? How would you
wake up? What would you have for breakfast? How would you spend your
time in the morning? What would you do at lunch? How would you spend
your afternoon? What would you do for dinner? How would you spend
your evening time?
7

Then expand this out to what your best average week would look like.
On a weekly basis, how would you spend your Mondays, Tuesdays,
Wednesdays, and Thursdays? What would your weekends look like on a
best average basis? Next, expand this out to your best average month, then
to your best average year.
This powerful exercise helps you invest your time in ways that allow you
to more easily embody the future you are choosing to create. An ongoing
flood of opportunities presents itself because this is what you are resonating
to each day. As Jack Canfield says in our Effortless Success course, you
attract those opportunities and resources to you because it’s what you set in
motion.

Meeting Daily Challenges

Listen to this Paraliminal when you need to stay on top of your personal
responsibilities and tasks, especially on your most challenging days.
Deferring decisions about the things you need to do can create unnecessary
stress and pressure and lead to feelings of overwhelm. As papers pile up on
your desk, for instance, you might think, “I’m too busy, I’ll get to it later.”
But there isn’t always going to be a later.
The hypnotic I’m so busy is an auto-suggestion in your mind that precludes
the possibility of you doing what you want. Instead you end up creating
extra steps or things to do before you get working on what you know you
have to do.
8

Make time your supportive friend, not your adversary. Take action on
what you need to do now so you can avoid the stress later of scrambling to
pay overdue bills or staying up all night to pack for a trip you will be too
exhausted to enjoy.

Sorting Your Time

People process and experience time in predominantly one of two ways. In the
field of neuro-linguistic programming (NLP) this is called “sorting time.”
Someone who usually runs late for engagements, meetings, and
appointments or who often misses deadlines is most likely an “in-time”
sorter. This person tends to live in the moment as it is unfolding.
They are more likely to become absorbed for hours in an Internet search
or stay in a conversation as long as it is going on regardless of other
commitments they might have. They might look at their watch and say, “Oh
my, it’s 4 o’clock. I’m supposed to be somewhere that’s 15 minutes away
from here,” and then they hurry off.
A “through-time” person views time more objectively. They are more
conscious of how time passes and see things along a continuum. As a
result, they usually have a better understanding of the scope of projects and
a better feel for how long things take.
A through-time person is better able to plan and therefore rarely runs late,
while an in-time person might arrive for a 7 o’clock dinner at 7:30 and then
explain all the reasons why they are late. It’s not an inability to manage
time; it’s just the different way in which they sort time.
9

There are people who process time one way when engaged in work and the
other way when enjoying personal activities. The good news is the more
aware you are of how you process time, the better you can flow with it.
Listen to this Paraliminal when you want to adopt behaviors that help you
become more effective and efficient in ways that serve you and respect the
time of others.

Exploring Possibilities
Some people have “too much” time on their hands, and this is just as
difficult as having too little time. It is a common challenge for some who
are newly retired and others who have moved into a new community
without family or friends.
Having just the right amount of time—neither too much, nor too little—to
do the things you need to do and those you enjoy doing leads to greater
balance and satisfaction in life.
Listen to this Paraliminal session if you feel anxious about how you will fill
the hours of your day. It can spark a playful attitude and open you to new
possibilities for creative exploration.

Benefits
• Remove the calendar noose.
• Realize how some things you do may strangle the true value of your time.
10

• Manage your time in ways that reward you, personally, professionally, and
spiritually.
• Establish beneficial routines and practices that reenergize you and further
your goals and passions.
• Perceive time with fresh eyes, noticing greater opportunities for new
choices.
• Live the wisdom of the master with an open mind, open heart, and joyful
willingness as you discover new ways of relating to time.
• Enjoy the rewards of your effectiveness and productivity.
• Recognize how expected outcomes and unexpected gifts come from how
you spend your time.
• Live with passion and purpose in joy-filled days, hours, and moments.

Possibilities for Going Beyond

Valuing Your Time, Moving Toward Mastery
Every action you take involves the evaluation of your time, whether you
realize it or not. It might be a deliberate thought process, or it can happen
in an instant when you finish dinner and say, “I’m too tired to pay bills, I’ll
watch TV instead.”
What are the criteria by which you evaluate your time?
Perhaps you start each day with a half-hour meditation. Why? Because it’s
of greater value to you than anything else you might do at that moment
11

such as sleeping a little longer or watching the morning news. Your

experience has told you dedicating those minutes at the front end of your
day makes you calm, focused, and energized so you can think more clearly
and accomplish more each day.
How you choose to value your time is key, whether you are listening to
Paraliminals, practicing Spring Forest Qigong, training for a marathon,
restoring antiques, or learning a musical instrument.
Let’s say you enjoy playing the piano and regularly practice to get better.
Who cares? You can put on a recording and listen to the best pianist in the
world all day long, so it has nothing to do with hearing the music.
You have placed a value on being able to play the music yourself. Why?
Because it brings you joy and satisfaction. You don’t practice for the sake
of practice. You practice because every minute you do, you are engaged in
doing something you love or something that satisfies. Time flies by, and as
you channel your energy productively, your skills improve and you become
a better pianist.
It takes many small steps to gain mastery. If that is your goal, it’s essential
you value every step and learn from every outcome. Each result offers
valuable feedback to help you move forward. Take time to notice and ask
yourself, “Is this giving me the result I want?”

Gaining More Freedom

Time has been used as a measure of productivity since humans first worked
in exchange for goods. Yet the measure of time really has nothing to do
12

with how productive you are. You can punch a clock and go through the
motions of a job for eight hours without getting a whole lot accomplished.
It’s how you spend time that’s important. Today old models of work
are starting to shift to models that place greater emphasis on results and
creativity. In the old paradigm, managers predict an outcome and attempt to
control employee behavior to achieve it. In the new paradigm, employees
are more self-directed.
Having greater control of your own time—whether you work for yourself
or someone else—has been shown to increase job satisfaction significantly.
While there’s much more responsibility on your part to bring value and
creativity to your work, you gain tremendous freedom.
This is not about abdicating your day-to-day responsibilities, but being
conscious and responsible.

Creating a Life That Matters

If you are uncertain about how you want to invest your time or where your
passions truly lie, consider listening to the Success Built to Last Paraliminal
with Stewart Emery. It will help you become more aware of what matters
most to you. Loving who you are and what you do are the greatest
motivators for building lasting success, says Stewart.
Consider these additional Paraliminals to support your progress:
• Living the Law of Attraction, to raise the vibration of your physical,
emotional, and mental energy and attract what you need to make your
life better.
13

• Fresh Start, to sidestep suffering that occurs when things turn out
differently than planned and create a new beginning in any area of your life.
• Belief, to rewrite self-limiting beliefs and strengthen your abilities to
achieve what you desire.
• Self-Discipline, to create new disciplines in any area of your life by
decisively steering your daily energies.
• Get Around To It, to overcome hesitation in specific situations and
eliminate patterns of procrastination that derail your intentions.

How Paraliminals Work

Paraliminal, as derived from the Greek para (beyond) and liminal
(threshold), means “beyond the threshold of conscious awareness.”
Through their unique application of neuro-linguistic programming and
whole brain learning technologies, Paraliminals stimulate your mind to
quickly improve your life and maximize your potential—without subliminal
messages.
As you listen with headphones, you will hear a variety of messages. At the
very heart of the program, the voices are artfully woven together. You will
hear one voice speaking in one ear to one part of your brain and a second
voice speaking in your other ear to a different part of your brain.
Your conscious mind finds it difficult to process two voices speaking
simultaneously, so it shuts down, putting you into a deeply relaxed, clear-
headed state—which leaves your inner mind to absorb the message at a
14

deep level. The voices you hear gently guide your mind so you get the
results you want.
Each Paraliminal is meticulously crafted using state-of-the-art digital
recording equipment to produce a soothing 3-D sound that allows music,
voices, and nature sounds to project spatially in your mind in a soothing,
effective, and pleasurable way.

Holosync Audio Technology

Holosync audio tones, which you might hear as a hum, have been
embedded in the recording to increase your ability to benefit and learn from
this Paraliminal session.
Centerpointe Research Institute’s Holosync audio technology, when listened
to with headphones, creates the electrical brain wave patterns of many
desirable states. These states include deep meditation, increased creativity,
focus and concentration, and accelerated learning ability. Using Holosync
creates new neural pathways between the left and right brain hemispheres,
balancing the brain, enhancing mental/emotional health, improving
mental functioning and self-awareness, and healing unresolved emotional
problems.
A much deeper and more powerful version of Holosync can be found
in Centerpointe’s ongoing program, The Holosync Solution. For more
information about this program and how Holosync can accelerate mental,
emotional, and spiritual growth, and to receive a free Holosync demo, visit

USING YOUR PARALIMINAL

Paraliminals are the easiest, most relaxing personal development tool to
use. Simply:
• Create a quiet time to focus inwardly. Choose an environment relatively
free from distractions. Sit comfortably or recline.
• Set your purpose for listening.
• Listen with headphones. You will receive minimal benefit if you merely
play a Paraliminal in the background; do not listen while driving or
operating machinery.
• Many people enjoy working with their unconscious during dreamtime.
You can enjoy the benefits of sleep learning by setting your audio
player to repeat the Paraliminal sleep learning track (Track 3). Adjust
the volume so you can tune out the sound as you sleep. Waking is an
indication your mind had completed the process, so turn off the player
at that time. Use the Paraliminal sleep learning feature as often as you
would like.
• To listen to more than one Paraliminal, take a 20-minute break between.
How Often Should I Listen to a Paraliminal?
Refer to the Best Ways to Use section for listening recommendations
regarding this particular Paraliminal. Your Paraliminal use will vary
depending on your unique needs. Some people may notice benefits after
their very first listening session, while others may experience change over
the course of days or weeks during several sessions.
16

Some people will listen to a Paraliminal when they want to shift a particular
pattern of behavior or change a belief. Others make a point of listening the
night before an important activity or event.
Paraliminals are catalysts for change. They facilitate access to strengths
already within you. Most changes are integrated within three days.
Continued listening can reinforce continued development.
When not getting the results you want, consider changing:
• The time of day you listen.
• Whether you are sitting or reclining.
• The furniture you sit or recline on.
• The room where you are listening.
Will I Benefit if I Fall Asleep or Am Interrupted?
Yes, you will still gain benefit providing you clearly state your purpose for
the session at the beginning. If interrupted, simply open your eyes, deal
with the matter, and then continue.

How Do I Clarify My Purpose?

On some Paraliminal recordings you will be asked questions to help you
focus on the benefit you desire. Pause the recording as needed.
You may also choose to write down your purpose for listening to strengthen
your intention and focus. The following guidelines can help you clarify
your purpose and ensure every goal you have is well formed.
17

1) State your goal in the positive.

Your goal must positively specify what you want, not what you do not
want. Instead of saying, “I want out of this boring job,” state, “I apply my
creative skills and energy to solve interesting problems in an exciting work
environment.”
2) Focus on a goal within your control.
You cannot control how others feel. The goal, “I want my office team to
be happy” is not within your control. But the following is: “I do my part to
create an office environment that supports my team’s work.”
3) Create a goal that preserves what you value.
Craft a goal that maintains the things you value most in your life. If you
have to give up too much to have a goal, it is unlikely you will seek it.
For example, earning more money may take away from family time if it
requires overtime or additional schooling. Make sure the trade-offs are
worth it to you.
4) Write your goal in the present tense.
Write your goal as if it has already manifested. Choose phrases such as “I am...”
and “I choose...” You only need to know what it is you choose to create.
5) Craft a measurable goal.
You must be able to know you have achieved your goal. To turn “I want to
be happy” into a measurable goal, you must specify what happiness means
to you. “I spend eight hours of quality time with my family each week” is a
measurable goal.
