Dear Ms. Reynolds.

I am writing to recommend Olivia (Liv) Alexander for the position of Assistant Social Media and
Communication Coordinator with Viewpoint Construction Software. I believe Liv is an excellent
candidate for the position. Her academic skills, interpersonal skills, drive, discipline, and personal
strengths work together to give Liv the tools needed to excel in the position advertised. I have
known Liv for two years as a student in my classroom and it is upon this interaction that I can make
this solid recommendation.

Liv has done very well in courses such as persuasion and interpersonal communication. She has a
good grasp of the concepts and theories and is able to apply them to real world settings. Liv is
reserved in class, but I believe this to be more out of respect for the academic environment then out
of indifference in the subject matter and material. When I have placed in a small group for course
interaction, she is always quite engaged, contributes to the conversation, leads when needed (but
not in a bossy, take-over way), and listens to her peers. This speaks to Liv’s ability to be an
excellent team player.

Liv always has her work completed on time and never asks for extensions. Her work is done well
and generally is in the top 20% of her class. This speaks to Liv’s ability to work independently. She
has managed to maintain solid grades while participating all through college in competitive
inter-collegiate athletics. This speaks to her accountability, discipline, responsibility, dedication,
and commitment. Liv does not back down from a challenge.

I have not been able to review the specific job description for your position, but as an alumnus of
our Department and one of my former advisees, you know, Sam, that I would not recommend Liv if I
could not feel confident putting my reputation on the line for her. From what I do know about the
position, Liv has the tools and skills needed to navigate both the internal and external channels of
communication the position requires. I also believe she has the ability to adapt and excel to the
ever-changing world of social media.

It is for these, and many other reasons that I can give Liv a very strong recommendation for the
position of Assistant Social Media and Communication Coordinator with Viewpoint Construction
