Hello,
My name is Laurel Bilbo. I am a clinical instructor at the University Of Arizona, College Of Nursing. I
teach the adult medical surgical content and work with students in the hospital environment. It was during one
of these clinical rotations, that I had the pleasure of working with Angela Mathew as a student. Before I met
Angela, she volunteered over 200 hours at Deer Valley Hospital as a transporter. Angela is a very kind and
caring individual, I am sure she helped calm the patients she was transporting.
Angela wasn’t just a task oriented student but, took the time to truly connect to her patients. She was able to
care for a wide variety of patients competently. Angela not only performed the needed care, but educated her
patients about medications, procedures and the patient’s disease process. Angela recognized the importance of
providing patient centered care and could see the big picture of her assigned patient’s outcome. Angela is a
bright student with a GPA of 3.62. This GPA is difficult to maintain in such a rigorous program as ours. Angela
was on the Dean’s list and received Academic Distinction.
Angela was a great team player often helping other students and staff when time allowed. Angela always
notified her precepting nurse of changes and communicated needs of the patient to the nursing assistant in a
professional manner. Angela was never tardy or absent and very respectful to all who she encountered. I believe
nursing is a calling. Angela is pursuing her calling and will make an outstanding nurse someday. I am pleased to
recommend Angela for a new grad position in your facility. This would be an excellent investment in a great
future nurse. Angela would be an asset to any unit she worked on. I am happy to discuss this further with you if
