NARRATIVE REPORT
ON
BRIGADA ESKWELA 2017
I-Introduction

To prepare schools for opening of classes for school year 2017-2018,

involvement of stakeholders was sought by the teachers and staff of Pinabacdao
National High School, particularly cleaning the whole campus surroundings, the
different classrooms, school library, computer laboratory, school canteen, together
with the office of the school head.

The purpose of doing this is make the stakeholders aware that they have to
share with the responsibilities in the operation of the school, specifically in
preparing the school premises and making it ready to accommodate students in the
forthcoming start of a school year.

Instructional leaders and school managers strongly believed that if a school is

clean and ready for the opening of classes, students and parents will be inspired
and encourage in enrolling and attending classes daily, together with the presence
of the accommodating, dedicated and competent teachers, enrolment will increase.

And for the opening of School Year 2017-2018, this school has done several
activities/strategies to celebrate the school’s maintenance week a fruitful one.
II-Report of Accomplishments

Several weeks before the scheduled National School’s Maintenance Week, the
underground together with the teachers had solicited help, support and assistance
from the different identified stakeholders who are known of their generosity and
supportive attitude in any school and community activities. With the cooperative
attitude of the teachers and staff, amounts were solicited and were used in the
purchase of other materials and food for the snacks and meals of the parents who
were present in cleaning the school campus.

Coordination with the barangay officials was done by the school personnel in
forming the parents of the old and new students of the school through “bandillo”
regarding the upcoming activity in school.

With these, numerous parents responded to the call, together with the
students who were grown-up, and offered voluntarily their service to prepare the
school for the opening of classes.

During the daily workout, parents, students, teachers and some community
residents and officials had helped one another in cleaning the whole campus from
weeds. Other stakeholders, who really could not be around due to important
matters to attend to regarding their family and career, had volunteered to donate
food for the snacks and meals of the participants.

Attached is an improvised BE Form 7 to show the monetary value of the

materials solicited and the volunteered labor rendered by the stakeholders during
the period, and the pictures showing the participants during the weeklong workout
activity.

F. ISSUES AND CONCERNS (Describe briefly problems encountered and how resolved)

Most of the parents could not report daily due to their family obligations.

This was solved by scheduling the concerned parents on a specific day, during the
week, for them to assist and help in the school’s Brigada Eskwela Activity.

G. LESSONS LEARNED/BEST PRACTICES

School Officials and personnel should establish a collegial relation relation among
stakeholders by constantly coordinating with them on whatever school undertaking that
they will have.

H. SUGGESTIONS TO STRENGHTEN BRIGADA ESKWELA PROJECT (Include support needed

from central Region, and Division Office that can increase the impact of Brigada
Eskwela Project in your school)

The department should also release financial assistance to schools for this activity,
particularly on the procurement of tools and equipments and other materials,, because
donations sought are no longer sufficient due to numerous solicitors.

The Department needs to pass an order treating teachers who never dare to
participate in the activities during the celebration despite repeated requests and
invitation from school authorities.
