BACHELOR OF SCIENCE IN BUSINESS ADMINISTRATION

Major in Shipping and Business Management

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION
The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Shipping and Business Management (BSBA-SBM) is a 4-year degree program
designed to prepare students to advance into such positions as business manager, sales representative, or production supervisor in a variety
of fields, including shipping, manufacturing, retailing, construction, financial institutions, and government. A degree in Business
Administration will prepare students to make their contribution - and get their share - in the demanding world of shipping and business.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOS)


The Bachelor of Science in Business Administration Major in Shipping and Business Management (BSBA-SBM) program supports the eight
point agenda of JBLFMU and the University’s policy on Quality, Health, Safety and Environmental Protection. The curriculum includes topics
in information technology; maritime theories and concepts; and a wide range of basic business and business education core. It also includes
a 3-unit practicum which would give students an opportunity to have an actual experience in the world of work.
Within 3-5 years of graduation, graduates of BSBA should be able to:
1) effectively manage/own a business
2) reach out to alma mater and community as socially responsible corporate citizens,
3) advocate quality, health, safety and environmental protection.
4) spontaneously communicate thoughts and emotions to others as individuals and as members of a team;
5) make their contribution - and get their share - in the demanding world of shipping and business;
6) initiate correct and ethical solutions to problems at work and accept consequences of actions as professionals; and
7) courageously face the continuous process of lifelong learning.

PROGRAM INTENDED LEARNING OUTCOMES (PILOS)


In order that the students will be able to accomplish the Program Educational Objectives, the curriculum is designed to meet the
competency standards of the program set by CHED to ensure that students at the time of graduation are able to:

a) convey ideas clearly and apply the principles of the different forms of communication.
b) conduct feasibility study, research, and analyze business related cases.
c) consistently demonstrate the values of perseverance, leadership, excellence, diligence, godliness, and equality.
d) competently access, retrieve and disseminate information using information technology.
e) create good interpersonal relations and develop a wholesome personality thru active participation in business associations
f) confidently explain the concepts, and approaches of quality, health, safety and environmental protection.
g) correctly identify the country’s national development thrusts, concerns and socio-economic indicators.
