I. ACTIVITY INFORMATION:

Title of Activity: Making Noise through Ink and Voice: Symposium-

Seminar on Effective Reading and Writing
Date:
Venue: Senior High School Building 4th Floor room 402
Participants: Grade 11-A3 students
Proponent: Grade 11- A3
Source of Fund: Registration of the participants

II. RATIONALE:

Difficulty in reading and writing has proven to be a cause for low work
integration and welfare dependence in adulthood. It hinders the ability of the
workers to effectively communicate and accomplish work-related errands and
duties.

The aforementioned scenario is what drives students into schooling.

However, in spite of attending classes, it appears that there are still some who
have difficulty in reading and writing.

In her book entitled "Exposition about the Four Macro Skills and Applications
in the Workplace", Chermiliyn Sarmient defined and explained what macro skills
are. Overall, there are four macro skills which are as follows: (a) listening, (b)
speaking, (c) reading, and (d) writing. However, of all of these skills, students are
found to have difficulty in reading and writing the most. Reading is a macro skill
which encompasses rendering aloud a written or printed material whereas writing
is a macro skill which involves forming letters and characters in the paper. This is
proven to be true; for instance, most grade 11 students of Mariners' Polytechnic
Colleges Foundation-CCS have difficulty in reading and writing.

As such, grade 11-A3 students plan to collaborate in facilitating a

symposium-seminar in order for them to enhance the macro skills of the
participants. Through this event, participants will be provided with tips on how
they will be able to rectify common mistakes that they commit. This will then prove
its worth when the time comes, when they are about to immerse themselves with
work at adulthood.

III. OBJECTIVES:

This program seeks to obtain the following objectives:

1. To provide an information in relation to the effective reading and

writing. In order to have an in-depth understanding and awareness
to devise the efficient approach for the enhancement and progress
of their skills in reading and writing.
2. To shed some light to the difficulties faced by some students
towards reading and writing.
3. To establish an optimistic mindset towards students in achieving
career goals and attaining excellence.
