Amelia Earhart was born in 1897 in the U.S.A.


When she was 10, she saw her first plane.
She didn’t think it was interesting, but later, she flew as a
passenger in a plane over Los Angeles.
She knew then that she wanted to learn how to fly, so she
became a pilot(飞行员). She flew very well.

Not many people flew in those days and it was unusual for a
woman to be a pilot, but Amelia Earhart was an unusual person.
In 1932, she was the second person to fly a plane alone across
the Atlantic Ocean.
However, she had even bigger dreams.
