I take pride and pleasure in celebrating the 2nd year
anniversary of the full commercial operations of
PCPC’s power plant. It is a day to reckon with and to
commend ourselves for what we are able to achieve,
the challenges, that courage of conviction, and the
commitment to our customers and our stakeholders.
Our aspiration as partners in powering the progress of
Iloilo, Panay, the whole of Visayas and ultimately the
entire country, has always been the fountain of inspiration
for all of us.
It is a very exciting time for us in PCPC—in many ways,
a milestone moment. In fact, as 2018 draws further,
there will be several milestones for us to mark. And
after two years of commercial operations, 2018 will
be a watershed year—a year of change.
I think the accomplishments that were realized in the last
two years came after many challenges and difficulties.
To our dear customers, to the highly committed officials
from the local government units and government
agencies, our contractors and suppliers, our partners in
the private sector and the media, there is no way to
adequately thank you all for your contributions and
support to the company.
Without your support to help us improve and your
valuable assistance that could really make a
difference, we simply would not be where we are
today.
NICANDRO R. FUCOY

The students worked on their masterpieces for a week, starting on April 27, which they
completed on May 4, 2018.
The students are the winners of the RHTHS MAPEH Department’s Mural Painting Contest.
“The students are all happy because this (activity) gave them an opportunity to showcase
their passion for visual arts,” Mr. Henry Abrigoso, coach, RHTHS, said.

UPLB VISITS POWER PLANT; CONDUCTS FGD WITH LGU, RESIDENTS Education
Faculty Members of the University of the Philippines Los Baños’ (UPLB) Department of Agribusiness
Management and Entrepreneurship visited the PCPC Power Plant on January 24-27, 2018.
Under the Green Program for Active Reforestation & Conservation (Green PARC) Project of PCPC,
UPLB Faculty Members led Focus Group Discussions (FGD) with Local Government Units and Non-
Government Organizations in Concepcion, Iloilo, to learn more on how they can come up with
collaborative programs.
Invited on the FGDs were officials from Barangay Nipa, Barangay Lo-ong, Community Environment
and Natural Resources Office (CENRO), Concepcion Civil Society Organization for Rural Development
(CONCORD), and Nipa Small Farmers & Fisherfolks Association (NISFFA).
The FGDs are part of the research that UPLB is undertaking to be able to come up with
recommendations and action plans on the rehabilitation of the degraded forestland in Mount
Apitong. The research is aimed to improve the forest cover, restore the ecological balance,
and enhance biodiversity and water yield capacity of the watersheds in PCPC’s host community.
Last August 2017, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between PCPC and UPLB for the

signing the new guidelines of their scholarship program
Partnerships during the Scholars’ Meeting and Orientation on April 23,
2018.
The new terms in the guidelines entail their participation
to the Scholars Development Training which is a program
comprised of coaching, hands on exercises, and rendering
of service at the power plant site.
The said meeting includes a session for the scholars’
parents aimed to help them understand the role they
play as the guide of their children in maintaining their
scholarship and towards their success as college
students. An orientation about the power plant was also
discussed.
At present, PCPC has seven full scholars, all residents of
Concepcion, Iloilo, the power plant’s host community. Four
of them are studying at University of Iloilo while the three
are from Western Institute of Technology.

PCPC CSR BOOSTS PROJECT BAYBAY, ADOPT-AN-ESTERO PROGRAMS
In the company’s continuous pursuit for environmental protection and sustainability, various
environmental activities in the host community were organized.
On March 24 and June 23, 2018, orchestrated clean up activities were held in celebration of World
Water Day and Philippine Environment Month respectively.
The clean ups are part of PCPC CSR’s flagship program, Adopt-an-Estero, a project working towards
the conservation of Lilintian Creek and Aslum Creek located in the nearby barangays of PCPC’s
power plant.
For the clean up held during the World Water Day, 68 volunteers were able to collect 222-kilogram
amount of garbage.
“Most of the garbage collected (204kg of them) were plastic wastes. This is why we advocate reducing the
use of plastic in the host community,” Ms. Jazzy Jude Mateus, Community Relations Coordinator said.
Meanwhile, a Coastal Clean Up Activity during Tampisaw Festival, a yearly observance in the
Municipality of Concepcion, which coincides with the Earth Day Celebration, was led by PCPC on
April 27, 2018.
More than 200 staff and employees of PCPC, volunteers and residents from the different
barangays, LGU and NGO Officials, and PCPC scholars, join the coastal clean up which was
hailed successful with 337 kilograms of trash collected.
Coastal clean up activities are part of PCPC’s Project Baybay, another flagship program aimed
at helping maintain the cleanliness of the coastal areas in the Municipality of Concepcion.
Apart from the regular tree planting activities of the company through its Adopt-Mt.-Apitong
program, a tree planting activity on June 25, 2018 in celebration of Arbor Day was concluded.
Around 60 plant personnel planted Narra tree species in the slope protection area at the back of
the power plant.
“Initiatives as such is PCPC’s way to promote among the workers the value of environmental
stewardship,” Mr. Noel Dorego, Environment, Health, and Safety Head said.
Ms. Mateus said that the CSR Team is beyond grateful for the volunteers who are present
every time they organize clean ups and planting activities. “It just shows that we still have
hope and that we are not alone in protecting Mother Earth,” she added.
