Peakpower Soccsargen Inc. (PSI) launched the Build-


and-Brighten-A-School Project by forging an agreement
with the Department of Education to support Republic
Act 8525, or the Adopt-a-School Program, a program
encouraging private companies to assist in the delivery
of better quality education to public schools, particularly
in the poverty-stricken provinces in the country.
PSI, an affiliate of Palm Concepcion Power Corporation,
is the owner of the 34.8-megawatt bunker-fired
power plant in Barangay Apopong, General Santos City.

facilities in each school, and a continuous feeding program for
two months.

PSI renovated the computer room, feeding center, guidance
office, administration and principal’s office of GSC
Elementary School for the Arts. A reading center was Turnover Ceremony at Lanton Elem. School
also constructed adjacent to the computer room area. A
complete set of classroom and office furniture were also
donated.
Lanton Elementary School
In this second school, PSI constructed a one-level Learning
Resource Center, which also serves as an audio-visual facility
and training center for both students and teachers. The
facility was turned over complete with audio-visual equipment
and classroom furniture.

materials for the blind.
The Build-and-Brighten-a-School Projects started on
November 2017 and the turnover ceremonies for the three
schools were held on July 5, 2018.

NEDA VI SUPPORTS ADOPT-A-MOUNTAIN PROJECT
As a support to the Enhanced National Greening Program (ENGP) of the
Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR), the National
Economic and Development Authority (NEDA) Region VI collaborated with
PCPC for a tree planting activity held on October 5, 2018.
With 34 participants, around 250 seedlings were planted at the back of
PCPC’s power plant, which is part of PCPC’s Adopt-A-Mountain Project. The
tree planting was then followed by a plant tour for the NEDA employees
led by Regional Director Ro-Ann Bacal.
DENR’s ENGP covers the remaining denuded and degraded forestlands in
the country, which includes the forest area of Concepcion, Iloilo, the host
municipality of the PCPC power plant.
“Our concerted effort will reflect positively the genuine concern of the
government and the private sector in preserving the environment, as
well as, adhere to our social responsibility,” Director Bacal said.

MMT CONDUCTS Q4 ENVI TESTING
PCPC and the Multipartite Monitoring Team (MMT) conducted the
Environmental Testing on November 22-23, 2018 which serves as the 4th and
last quarter testing for the year 2018.

The quarterly conduct of the ambient air quality and noise monitoring were
conducted in all the four (4) established stations. In addition, the ambient
water quality monitoring for freshwater, groundwater, and marine water were
also included. The conduct for the marine water module is also divided into
Circulating Water Intake, effluent or liquid waste, and other pollution point
source inventory.

MMT is an independent entity assisting the DENR in monitoring


environmental impacts and compliance.

In observance of the International Coastal
Clean Up, PCPC’s Corporate Affairs Group
and the Environment, Health and Safety

September 22, 2018.
Despite being held on a weekend, a troop
of more than a hundred volunteers participated
in cleaning up two different areas in the
community--Lilintian Creek and the Coastal Area
of Brgy. Nipa proper.
The group was able to gather a total of 342.45 kilos of
trash comprised of plastic (174.95kl), plastic
bottles (65.2kl), styrofoam (12.5kl), fabrics (41.5kl)
cans (8.8kl), and rubber (39.5kl).

eradicating pests such as mosquitoes that
are hiding in the surroundings.)

whose members are all volunteer
residents from Barangay Nipa.
“We intend to further strengthen the Quick Response Team to function not only during times of emergency, but also to be a core
group actively participating in various projects and events of the community,” Dan G. Baliao, Community Relations Assistant said.
Capacity Building BACKYARD PIGGERY SEMINAR HELD
Bringing a livelihood opportunity to residents
of Brgy. Nipa, PCPC, in partnership
with LEADS Agricultural Products conducted
a Swine Raising Seminar on November 13, 2018.
The seminar aims to inform interested swine
raisers and would-be swine producers the
appropriate technology that they can apply in
order to realize better production and profit.
Identified residents by the Barangay Council
were given Swine Starter Kits to establish their
own livelihood and after they have earned from
the first batch of swines, they will be the ones
to give out swine starter kits to other interested
residents.
Concepcion, Iloilo--PCPC held on its second year a gift-giving
activity called “Pamaskwa nga Halad sang PCPC” (Ilonggo phrase
for Pamaskong Handog ng PCPC).
The company shared grocery packs, school supplies, and toys through a
Christmas program, where games and entertainment delighted the
participants.
The activity, which was held on December 12, 2018, benefitted 100
indigent children and their families from the power plant’s host community.
Just like the previous year, the activity was made successful through the
generosity of PCPC’s board of directors, partners, and employees
through their participation to the “Bingo for a Cause,” a fundraising
activity of the company.
