Cardinal Stritch University has recently upgraded our existing web conferencing tool, Big Blue Button, to a

premium license.

Updated Changes with the Premium License:

 Faculty should continue their use of Big Blue Button within Canvas if the web conference is with their
current students or in a student group.
 Recordings are now available to be downloaded.
 Our premium license allows the university to host web conferencing rooms outside of Canvas. This allows
for greater ease of inviting guest speakers to join a conference.
 Each college will “own” one external web conferencing room. Other areas of the university such as
Enrollment Services and OIS will also manage a room for their use.
 These external web conferencing rooms will have someone assigned to manage the usage of the room to
ensure only one person is scheduled to access the conference room.

Canvas Big Blue Button Room Recommended use for the External Big Blue Button

All faculty have access within their Canvas course to Entities at the university that want to use External Big

Canvas Big Blue Button web conference.
Faculty will be able to copy the url/link from the Schedulers of the External Big Blue Button web
Canvas notification that the recording is finished conferences will be able to view a website with links to
and move the recording to another location within all the completed recordings. The links to the recordings
Canvas. may be shared or posted to another messaging
system/site.

Summary: For Faculty the current experience remains unchanged but additional functionality is added thus allowing
access to conference recordings. For the university, External Big Blue Button web conferences will increase the
productivity of the tool by providing access to service to individuals that do not use Canvas.
