Define “youth leadership” and its role in facilitating pathways to youth engagement.

Youth engagement is when the younger members of the community are included (or at least
under the impression that they are included) in community affairs. When the younger
members of the community are given opportunities to participate in development and events,
they are more likely to have strong connections to the community, benefitting it in the long run
when the youth are prominent members of society.

Youth leadership is beneficial through the eyes of the textbook because young members of the
community can take out their frustrations with the status quo and whatnot through social
change. They can also make serious positive change in society, so it is worthwhile to give the
youth leadership.
