PRESS RELEASE 19
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

CONCEPT:
HYPERLOOP TRANSPORTATION TECHNOLOGIES, also known as HTT, is is an American
research company formed using a crowd collaboration approach to develop a transportation system
based on the Hyperloop concept, which was envisioned and promoted by Elon Musk in 2013. A
hyperloop is a sealed tube or system of tubes through which a pod may travel free of air resistance
or friction conveying people or objects at high speed while being very efficient. Elon
Musk’s version of the concept, incorporates reduced-pressure tubes in which pressurized capsules
ride on air bearings driven by linear induction motors and axial compressors.
Hyperloop brings airplane speeds to ground level, safely. Passengers and cargo capsules will
hover through a network of low-pressure tubes between cities and transforming travel time from
hours to minutes. Passengers and goods will travel in pressurized capsules floating on a frictionless
magnetic cushion within the tubes. Capsules are powered by a linear induction motor, an
electromagnetic propulsion, and embedded rechargeable batteries. As a result, the system is silent
and emission-free. Magnets arranged in a Halbach array configuration enable passive levitation
over an unpowered but conductive track. And as capsules move through the low pressure
environment, they use very little energy on route thanks to the reduced drag forces. The Inductrack
system was tested and validated on a full-scale passive levitation track. HyperloopTT improved the
technology and optimized it for a low pressure environment through testing in our prototype.
In addition, HyperloopTT has developed a new skin material for capsule safety called Vibranium.
Using carbon-fiber and embedded sensors, this new smart material is eight times stronger than
aluminum and ten times stronger than steel alternatives, and transmits critical information regarding
temperature, stability, integrity and more, wirelessly and instantly. It is also much lighter in weight
(roughly five times less than steel and 1.5 times less than aluminum) reducing energy output to
propel the capsule. HyperloopTT builds its system around reducing friction and increasing
efficiency.
Our Hyperloop system consists of large tubes that will primarily be built on pylons, with some
ground level and underground segments as needed. The elevated system results in lower the cost of
land acquisition, makes it impervious to weather conditions, resilient to earthquakes, eliminates the
possibility of collision with road traffic, and will provide eco-opportunities.
Hyperloop replicates high altitudes in a low pressure environment inside the tube system by
removing most of the air with vacuum pumps, which drastically reduces the drag forces.
Automation improves efficiency and reliability by enabling system elements to be in constant
communication with each other and with operation control centers for near real-time response plans.
In partnership with architects, our design combined with self-sustaining energy strategies results
in lower construction and operational costs, translating into a profitable system with low ticket price
projections. Utilizing a combination of existing and new technologies, our Hyperloop system will
be both high-speed and resource-efficient, with a safe and comfortable experience for passengers
and cargo.
The HyperloopTT station is also energy-efficient, creating a transit hub for the community and
most importantly an urban center. The dynamic uses of space include places where passengers can
go to access services, experiences, and goods while other spaces are devoted to enhancing
passengers’ psychological experience.

VISION: Discovering new means of technology and to connect people all around the world.

MISSION: To create means of travel which would be environmentally conscious than all the other
existing models and apart from targeting travel and cost efficiency.
OPERATIONAL PLAN

The main operation of the hyperloop is to provide easy transportation which is affordable and saves
an immense amount of time. There are companies like TransPod which are stating that they’ll use
electromagnets instead of vacuum and in-air bearings claiming to be cheaper than the actual
hyperloop technology due to the creation of vacuum but they need the whole track to be made of
strong electromagnets trying to recreate the maglev technology on a higher level without any
contact with any surface, this will indeed make them comparatively slower and much costlier due to
high maintenance. There’s also the fact that there hasn’t been a proper testing and trial yet and these
are mere assumptions that the production cost will be cheaper. Further, TransPod uses steel and
other metals which expand and change shape according to the outside temperature. This needs to be
considered while designing the system based on environment of the location where it is being
deployed as it may destroy the track of hyperloop technology.
The transportation pods will be coated with real life vibranium which absorbs all sorts of vibrations
making it emission free and silent. The fastest mode of transport right now are aeroplanes which use
large quantities of aviation fuel, depleting nature of it’s resources and at the same time damaging
the environment with harmful emissions; while Hyperloop will run on electric power whose main
sources are wind energy, solar power and hydro power, which are clean and renewable resources.
Thus, it’ll be providing a much faster transportation network at cheaper rates and at the same time
won’t be causing any ill effects to the environment.
At platforms in both the cities we’ll be renting out spaces to people opening up their commercial
places such as fast-food chains, retail shopping, restaurants et cetera.
The project will also reduce green house gas emissions up to 86,000 tonnes over 30 years.
A vast network of high speed trains generally cover distances which take 20+ hours in 6-7 hours but
building a high speed railway line is very costly, hyperloop serves the purpose with 2/3rd of the cost
and is 3 times faster. High speed rail and maglev trains require power along the entire track.
Therefore the track costs more to build and more to operate. Hyperloop achieves better performance
for less cost. If it functions at it’s full speed, that is 1200 kmph, travelling from Mumbai to Pune
would literally take 15 minutes.
PHASE-WISE IMPLEMENTATION PLAN

The main implementation of the Mumbai-Pune hyperloop plan will be in three phases-

PHASE 1

Time Period: 2 years

• Acquiring all the land for the project
• Constructing a test track which will be a part of the production track
• Hiring all the Human resource requirements
• Legal requirements necessary for the project to commence will be fulfilled and respective
permissions will be sanctioned
• With the entire plan laid out, the required resources like capital, machinery, raw materials etc to
execute the day to day activities must be allocated to the respective departments.
• Estimating monetary requirements and accordingly raising funds through the most suitable
channels
• The safety and functionality tests on the test track will be conducted.
• Commencement of the construction of the pods
• Construction of the tunnels through the mountains/hills coming in the way

PHASE 2

Time period: 3.5 years

• Construction of the production track
• Construction of the platforms in both the cities
• Taking all precautionary and safety measures required
• Setting up wind and solar panels to to meet the power requirements while using clean energy
• The hired personnel will be trained and mentored to ensure smooth working throughout.
• Heavy marketing activities will be conducted
• Parking and pickup/ drop-off areas will be constructed
• Launching of the website where pre-bookings could be done
PHASE 3

Time period: 6 months

• All the final rounds of testing and precautionary methods will be done
• The first day of the launch, there will be no travelling expenses charged.
• Marketing plans in full execution
FEASIBILITY ANALYSIS

This technology would benefit the country at a large because of its immense feasibility and hence
the people would have easier ways of commuting from one place to another

TIME-BASED:

This pods will operate or run 3 times per day and would make a total 36 trips per month , this is the
trips that will be made by one pod
POTENTIAL PARTNERS/ TIE-UPS

• HTT will be partnering with DGW hyperloop which is an Indian company manufacturing and
setting up hyperloops and is based in Indore, Maharashtra. Partnering up with DGW hyperloop
would provide us a working partner in that region and at the same time would promote ‘Make in
India’ and would get the work done cheaper. DGW hyperloop has not yet been able to perfect the
technology of hyperloop so partnering with us, they would get the access to all the technological
aspects. DGW hyperloop which is a subsidiary of Dinclix Groundworks Pvt. Ltd., which would
help bringing in funds at the same time help acquire raw materials and other resources at cheaper
rates due to the advantage of being a local company.

• Collaboration with Uber. There is a large number of people who use the Uber cabs services, thus
Collaborating with Uber would also prove beneficial as we would be providing them with special
parking benefits near the platforms in both cities as people getting off in the other city would be
requiring cab services providing surplus profit to them and in the meanwhile Uber provides us
with monetary funds and advertisements in their application.
• Collaboration with Waymo LLC. Waymo is a self-driving technology development company. It
is a subsidiary of Alphabet Inc. Waymo originated as a project of Google before it became a stand
alone subsidiary in December 2016. As they’re involved in innovating new transport
technologies, they’d show interest in our project providing valuable monetary funds. Having
ground breaking new technology, we already have an extensive Research and Development
department which would help them develop their technology.
• Collaboration with FedEx. The hyperloop will do 4,000 cargo shipments daily thus partnering
with HTT will give them discounted rates on cargo shipments while they provide us with
monetary assistance.
• Multiple iron and steel firms which are not able to earn sufficient contracts will be partnered up
with HTT so that they get a boost and at the same time we get the raw materials at a cheaper rates
cutting the cost of the construction of the hyperloop.
• HDFC bank will be partnered up with which will provide HTT monetary funds while the tickets
which would be booked by a HDFC account would get 10% off on every booking for a particular
period of time. This would also promote HDFC to get more customers as well.
MARKET SURVEY

PRODUCT:

The product is a high class transportation model which many countries will have in the future. It is
popularly called as the hyperloop model. The tracks will have pods inside the track lines which
would help in transportation this is a feasible technology which might actually change the entire
ways of transportation in the upcoming future. This product is an innovation and promotion of the
great Elon Musk. Having the newest technology utilised in this product it would be readily
accepted.

PRICE:

The price of the product would be finally arrived upon after all the construction has taken place to
be more specific and profitable. The price will be closely set to that of airfares but nit as expensive
as airfares. This would make it affordable to a larger number of people than the people who can
afford only airfares. The demand based pricing strategy must be adopted because the product is a
new technology. As we have no specific information about the kind of people who would want to
try the technology the most suitable strategy would be demand based pricing. With this we can
adopt the skimming technology to compensate for the cost involved in making the product meaning,
we can charge a high price for the technology at first and skim the cream of demand in the market
and then reduce the price of the service once the market for the service comes down. So the best
pricing strategy would be a combination of skimming pricing and demand based pricing.

PLACE:

The initial project will be laid between Mumbai to Pune. Mumbai being a metropolititan city would
be a head start to the project. Pune having a Cosmo crowd would readily accept the technology and
both the cities are prime locations that have a frequent flow of transportation between them and
hence need to be connected more easily. The frequency of people who keep travelling from Mumbai
to Pune and the reverse are high in India given the crowd present in both the countries. Hence this
would be the best and the prime location to start the project given. Given the extensive population
the people who use the commuting modes will also be higher compared to other cities.
PROMOTION:

This part would be easier because this being a new technology many people would want to actually
try the technology .issuing a press release in order to spread people news about the invention. After
the pod has been constructed the first ride would be free for about 40 passengers. The promotion
techniques would be simple

• Display advertising

• Newspapers

• Press release

• Online advertising

PROCESS:

This would be a very feasible and a smooth process. First this would involve purchasing the tickets
physically or from the original website. This requires submitting a proof of person. After the ticket
has been purchased the security check will begin when the person is going to boards the pod. And
small security check will be followed by that to ensure safety. After those things have been
completed the passenger is ready to board the train.

PHYSICAL EVIDENCE:

This involved the design of the pods which will be very much modernised matching the Japanese
technology. Any extra technological benefits can be incorporated such as providing water, wifi
services etc the ticket will be designed in a simple way which is easy to understand the place or
boarding and departure would be maintained neatly and cleanliness will be ensured to protect the
health of the travellers who are boarding the train.

PEOPLE:

The segment will include people who have business in one of the cities and have to commute
regularly. It can also be suitable for a student who is studying in either of the cities, families who
would want to go on holiday trips or tourism at a large angle. Even though these are few segments
of people who would use the technology the target market is really larger than this scale. The
demographic target market would all the people of Mumbai and Pune who are not older than 60 and
not younger than 15.

SWOT ANALYSIS

STRENGTHS:

• The travel time is really less which means that people would prefer this mode of transport
compared to any other mode of transport. The projected time to cover the distance is 25
minutes which is very less and time consuming than another mode of transport. This would
attract people to try this channel of transportation leaving behind other modes of
transportation.

• This market does not have any direct competition which implies that promotion of the
service would be easier if the promotion does not involve confusing the buyers. it just
involves informing the buyers about kinds of service that are offered by the company hence
it is much easier.

• It is cost effective. The cost of building the railway lines are really high but this service
requires only two third of the cost of a railway line an covers the distance faster than that of
an actual railway line. This cost benefit analysis is the major strength of the service that is
going to be launched soon into the market. This will reduce the cost of the ticket and attract
more people.

WEAKNESSESS:

• These pods are difficult to maintain given the huge developments. With greater
advancements in technology comes greater risk in managing such complex technological
advancements. Given the complexity of the technology it would become difficult to crack
the solutions or mange such complex tech.

• It would be difficult to operating in extreme weather condition which will also not have any
backup to make up for the revenue lost in the non working days. So this would let the
functioning of the service which is a major threat

• It would be difficult to provide security measures under extreme conditions because the
track line include tunnel which are like hard to break open and would make it more difficult.
This weakness is however related to the service only when the terrains are not suitable for
flat rides
OPPORTUNITIES:

• The opportunity would be to make the service a country wide service and not only available
to the people of Mumbai and Pune. This would give even a global recognition for this
massive project due to its technology as well as the cost effective analysis. This basically
means branching into new segments

• To change the mode as well as the class on transportation in the country given the time of 10
years. These projects are really feasible and if promoted in other countries too the means of
travel will extensively become modernized which would add to the growth of the country

• Having tie ups with major transportation companies because if major transportation giant
endorse our brand then they will gain a huge recognition among the market participants this
would provide various opportunities to the hyperloop company. The tie ups can also equip
the company.

• After gaining market recognition the company can indulge into another innovative product
line. this product line would become successful because of the fame enjoyed by the
previously created service

THREATS:

• This technology will harm the environmental standards as it involve making changes to a lot
of alignments which disturb the positioning of the land .this may lead to some destruction
because of the disturbances caused to its alignment. Hence these posses a major threat when
people come to know about the disturbances caused there. this would affect the image of the
company

• The technology used by the competitor is major threat to the company because the
technology used by them is something related to the electromagnet technology which
comparatively cheaper than our technology. This technology used electromagnet to propel
the vehicle. Nevertheless the technology used by the competitor is slower when compared to
our technology
MARKETING STRATEGIES

• Holding a contest in the major parts of Mumbai and Pune which spread the services the
contest can basically involve groups of people who have their own innovative ideas and the
best idea would receive price. So this will create an image about the company among a large
group of people.

• Incorporating the launching of the service along with a major grand event such as
introduction of a new or a major car series or a film fare award. This would reach a lot of
people otherwise compared to the normal reach. Because the product we are launching it is a
very premium brand it would give us a leverage that the brand is already enjoying in the
market. Elon Musk, would be called for the launching as well.

• Live telecasting the running of the pods as well as the infrastructure in a major new channel
would go a long way in the marketing of the product. This would reach a large market of
people. This would also mainly target the people who belong to the demographics of our
country.

• Conducting of workshops in tech colleges which would go a long way in word of mouth
marketing. Making students participate in tech fests and sponsoring the tech fest would
create a large impact among the young crowd that we are targeting. So this news will spread
like fire and reach a lot of people.

• Partnering with HDFC and giving 10% discount on tickets being booked by an HDFC
account would promote sales of the tickets.
• Advertisements in airplane magazines
• Conducting press conferences
These strategies concentrate only on the non-conventional means. But for this technology
conventional means of marketing is more important because the technology is very complex and
there is not a lot of competition that we have to come up with innovative market areas. Letting
people know about the service the major marketing that needs to be carried out extensively

• Using mascot on road

• Television advertising

• Film advertising

• Posters advertising
CONTENGENCY PLAN

There are multiple precautions that need to be taken in order to avoid any kind of disaster. In many
cases hyperloop is intrinsically safer than airplanes, train or automobiles.:
• Since the capsule is inside a vacuum tube thus incase of emergency if the pod stops midway, we
will be installing an extra oxygen tank and also oxygen masks which would drop down just
similar to the ones in airplanes.
• The passenger capsules- which coast through the tubes, pushed in front of a column of pressurised
air- are coasting for much of their journey, so the have emergency brakes working n the
electromagnetic theory and engine driven wheels incase they are stranded or need to avoid hitting
a stranded hyperloop car.
• In the unlikely event of a large-scale capsule depressurisation, other capsules in the tube would
automatically begin emergency braking while the hyperloop tube would undergo rapid re-
pressurisation along it’s entire length.

• Once all capsules behind the stranded capsule have been safely brought to rest, capsules would
drive themselves to safety using small onboard electric motors to power deployed wheels.
• Every pod will have an extremely accurate location trackers. Thus in case of an emergency, the
control tower will get to know the location where the pod has stopped.
COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

Hyperloop was the name given to a super fast, ground based transportation system, a concept of
Tesla’s founder Elon Musk. HTT is the original hyperloop, and it owns the brand hyperloop.
HTT is focussed on passengers and are provenly the first company that actually brought this
technology to reality. It is also building the first commercial line in Abu Dhabi.
Virgin Hyperloop One is planning to have 1,50,00,000 passenger trips per year whereas HTT would
make 1,50,04,000 passenger trips per year. This is because of the advanced technology of utilisation
of vibranium as outer covering for the pods.
HTT’s association with Elon Musk, who was the first to pitch the idea and he is known for
achieving the desired results just as he did with SpaceX. Elon Musk is known for his innovations
and he’s known to cut down costs just like he did on the Space Shuttle that NASA launched. He
created a similar model at 1/8th of the cost.
In today’s competitive scenario, brand and quality matter the most which is all provided by HTT at
a slightly lower rate. As the main focus of HTT is the development of new and innovative
technologies which completely change the present scenario, while Virgin Hyperloop One mainly
focuses on running their business and earning profits. The brand name of Tesla and SpaceX will
help giving HTT’s image a major boost.
