Activity 1-using poetry to assess writing

Aims: -to focus on some basic grammatical rules, particularly those relating to the use of Present
Simple Tense

-to provide revision in some basic vocabulary

Type of item used for evaluation - sentence completion

problem solving exercises

EXAMPLES:

Aim: to revise Simple Present Tense using adverbs of frequency

Level: beginners

Procedure: the teacher writes on the board the halves of the sentences above, or gives printed
sheets with the halves of the sentences above to each pair. The students complete the sentences
and then read aloud in the class

Activity- Find and mark the mistakes in the following short biography.

I.Jack Friedhamm was born to New York in October 25, 1965. He began school at the age of six
and continued until he was 18 years. He then went to New York University to learn Medicine.
He decided on Medicine because he liked biology when he was at school.

While he was to University he met his wife Cindy. Cindy was a beautiful woman with hair long
black. They went along for yeers before they decided getting married. Jack began to work like a
doctor as soon as he graduated to Medical School. They had two children named Jackie and
Peter, and have lived in Queens since the past two years. Jack is very interested painting and
likes to paint portraits of his sun Peter.

II.I’m studying english because I want to work for a big company when I will graduate. Perhaps
I may to continue my studis. So I must to reach a good level of english because of when I will go
abroad send by the company, I’ll need to understand all. My father who is mecanic engineer he
says that english is a interesting language for all kinds of reasons. Another reason that I am
studying english is that I like myself to listen to the music.I am learning new expressions and
improve my listening, too. I can mix learning with the pleasure of listening to the
music.Something else is we often have foreigners invited for diner at home who are invited by
my parents and usualy english is the language of communication.
