The Retractable Plugin is mostly made of plastic
and rubber. We used an extension board which had a small i.e. up to 2.5-meter-long wire. We opened the board studied its mechanism and put in a 2-meter-long charging cable instead of the normal wire. We inserted the cable in such a way that both the ends had an exit from the body. In order to do so we made one hole on the top of the body and one hole on the bottom part of the body. The cable was then rolled inside the body on an outgrowing circular base (top body). The top and bottom part of the design are separate, and the top can be rotated which rolls the cable in. In order to make the product portable and easy to use, we attached a vacuum hook behind the top body, which will enable it to stick near a plug point and also make it portable. To make the Retractable Plugin easy to use, i.e. make the cable easily roll-able when stuck at low plug points, we attached a handle on top of a circular wooden plate, which was attached to the top body. To add one more utility to our product. We added a phone holder on top of the product. The phone holder was made of rubber. We cut the base of rubber into an arc that could be connected on top of the product. We also cut the top of the rubber into an arc and the made 2 slits on both the side by measuring the width of an average phone. Then we stuck the rubber phone stand on the top of the product. The rubber stand was then painted in order to make the product aesthetic.
Functioning of the Retractable Plugin
The Retractable Plugin has two separate bodies, i.e. top and bottom, which are connected by a screw from bottom. This allows the product to rotate, which enables the rolling of the cable. The Micro Usb part of the cable can be pulled out of the body in order to extend the cable to the place where the phone is. It can be rolled back in by the handle on the top of the body. The vacuum hook behind the product enables it to stick near the plug points and also makes it portable. The phone holder on top of the Retractable Plugin provides a safe space for the phone to rest while it is charging. This eliminates the risk of phone falling from weird places it is kept on. (e.g. On top of the charger)
