INFORMATION SHEET

SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDINGS: Students will develop an ability to record from direct
observation and personal experience; an ability to identify and solve problems in visual
and/or other forms. Students will continue to develop their creativity, visual awareness,
critical and cultural understanding and construct an imaginative, creative and persona
response. Students will engage and experiment with a range of media, materials and
techniques, including new media and technologies. Students will experience working in
relevant framework and exploration of manipulative skills necessary to form, compose and
communicate in 2D/3D. Students will become investigative, analytical, experimental,
interpretative, practical, technical and expressive skills, which aid effective and independent
learning. Fostering a life-long appreciation and enjoyment of Art and Design.

CONTENT: Candidates are encouraged to work from direct observation and explore the
use of tone, colour, composition, materials and context. Work can either be representational
or more imaginative and interpretive.

RESOURCES: Pencils, pastels and charcoal. Watercolour, acrylic and oil paint. Printing inks,
indian ink and a variety of 3D materials.

ASSESSMENT:
* Component 1: externally assessed broad-based assignment with final 8-hours exam (50%)
* Component 4: Coursework assignment (50%)
* Produce a portfolio of up to four sheets (eight sides maximum size A2)
* Produce a final outcome (maximum size A2)

CREATIVE ARTS
IGCSE Drama (0411)
INFORMATION SHEET
SKILLS AND UNDERSTANDINGS:
Students will have the opportunity to develop their understanding of drama through
practical and theoretical study and come to understand the role of the actor, director and
designer in creating a piece of theatre. Students will develop their acting skills, both
individually and in groups, and through devising original drama. These skills will help
students to communicate feelings and ideas to an audience, as well as foster understanding
of the performance process and enable students to evaluate the various stages of the
process. Ultimately, encouraging an appreciation and life-long enjoyment of Drama.

CONTENT:
Through practical and theoretical study, students develop an understanding and enjoyment
of drama, developing group and individual skills and studying ways to communicate ideas
and feelings to an audience. Students will work with:

 Extended extracts from published plays


 Stimuli (short titles, poems, pictures, songs, historical events, stories) for devising
pieces
 Their own choice of dramatic repertoire
 Dramatic material of their own devising

Students develop their individual and group performance skills, the demonstration of which
forms part of the final assessment.

In Secondary School French students are offered different exams according to their level in
French

 The skills that will be developped are : Listening / Speaking / Reading / Writing

 To get to these skills the students will acquire knowledge of specific language items
such as : Grammar / Vocabulary/ Characteristic features of particular text types…

 The students will use these skills in order to develop the following skills : discribing,
sharing ideas (through texts and orally), critical thinking, expansion of vocabulary,
media awareness and literacy…

The aims are to develop:

3. Economic development (Energy, Water, Industry, Development, Food Production, Tourism and
Environmental risks of economic development)

The aims are to:
 stimulate an interest in and enthusiasm for learning about the past
 promote the acquisition of knowledge and understanding of individuals, people and societies in the
past
 ensure that learners’ knowledge is rooted in an understanding of the nature and use of historical

 Through studying Russian 1st and German 1st and Italian, students will develop the ability to

At ISM the IGCSE Mathematics curriculum offers a rigorous and challenging program, and students are
encouraged to develop resilience, confidence and the ability to analyse questions, selecting an
appropriate mathematical technique and then communicating their findings in the language of
mathematics.

Mathematical techniques : Students should be able to:


 organise, interpret and present information accurately in written, tabular, graphical and
diagrammatic forms
 perform calculations by suitable methods
 use an electronic calculator and also perform some straightforward calculations without a
calculator
 understand systems of measurement in everyday use and make use of them in the solution of
problems
 estimate, approximate and work to degrees of accuracy appropriate to the context and convert
between equivalent numerical forms
 use mathematical and other instruments to measure and to draw to an acceptable degree of
accuracy
 interpret, transform and make appropriate use of mathematical statements expressed in words
or symbols

ASSESSMENT:
 Students undertake both formative and summative assessments
 Ideas and concepts are consolidated through class work and homework. All homework is
reviewed through teacher input or peer assessment, with written or oral feedback
 Students will sit summative topic tests, with the aim of becoming increasingly familiar with
IGCSE style questions.
 Students take a summative End of Year test in June of Year 10
 Students take a Mock IGCSE exam in Year 11.

Students will have the opportunity to study both the practical and theoretical aspects of
Music. It is designed to enable students to listen to, perform and compose music,
encouraging aesthetic and emotional development, self-discipline and, importantly,
creativity. As a result, students enhance their appreciation and enjoyment of music, an
achievement that forms an ideal foundation for future study and enhances lifelong musical

Students will have the opportunity to study both the practical and theoretical aspects of
physical education. It is designed to encourage enjoyment in physical activity by providing
learners with an opportunity to take part in a range of physical activities and develop an
understanding of effective and safe physical performance. This helps learners to develop an
appreciation of the necessity for sound understanding of the principles, practices and
