CORRUPTION and FILIPINO FAMILY, QUESTION OF TRUST 1,2, PAENG IS HOME, SID AND AYA

This articles and movie was the task that our professor assigned us to make a creative
presentation with my group. So as I was reading the articles, the corruption and Filipino family was
the one that really struck me, simply because it was very relevant in my family. My family was actually
inclined in politics, not really my father but my relatives. My uncles, my cousins and other relatives is
very into politics, to the point that they want my father to run for a position, he refused it, but his still
part of it even if he doesn’t want to but for the sake of the legacy of the family. This politics that I’m
talking about was destroying the relationship between the members of this family. For me, they want
to be part of the system just to have the power and money not because to serve the people. FAMILY
DYNASTY as you called it. Every election, there were always an issue between the members of the
family who will be the next to sit in the throne. As if it was a toy na pinagpasapasahan lang nila.
Without much care about the people living in that place.

Actually at first, I am proud to be part of this family because it is dominant and famous
somewhere in Lanao del Norte. I was naïve, ignorant and arrogant at that time, until I have met my
best friend who live in that place, criticized their barangay captain who is my relative, told me all the
corrupt things that they do to their barangay and how entitled their children were. I was so ashamed
to the point that I hated that I am part of this family. I have realized how unfair and egocentric this
family. I hated myself and scared because sometimes I feel like I will be like them in the future, I will
be part of this system who will take advantage of the power, in exchange of the suffering of the poor.
Dili man pud tanan sa among family kay in ani, some of them are. I know a lot of them was feeling the
same way as I feel.
