Introduction
The first casualties of war are Education and order. When Hitler took
power in Germany in 1933, he immediately displaced all professional
soldiers and trained military personnel for a host of civilian fanatics
that used to gather scientific books on street piles to burn them
publicly. The Nazi party customarily promoted people to their degree of
incompetence. No one knows how or why a civilized nation, with so
much intellectual talent and the promise of a young generation, deeply
fell for the convincing rhetoric of this man. Many high ranking officers
were humiliated and even demoted, and some were transferred from
the Ministry of Defense to the Ministry of the Interior for instance, or,
became simple “paper pushers” with a low profile administrative job,
such is the case of the man in the story you are about to learn. Later
on, during the full all out war, these bad decisions came out to the
light of day. The Second World War was personally conducted by
Hitler, himself a low ranking soldier in the German Army during WWI
and, his venturing campaign had the face of disaster since the very
start. Young, promissory lives were in some cases led by incompetent
superiors that had no idea about the rules and art of war. At the
Nuremberg trials, the entire world saw the horrors of a war that was
waged by amateurs. There are exceptions to the rule though; in this e-
book I present to you the real story of one of those German officers
that understood war in all its facets.
