Bridge-in:
 Welcome to the study of the mind, brain and behaviour!
 Scientific thinking is a crucial concept to cover when we’re looking at
Psychology because it helps us understand and analyze thinking to a
deeper level
 From this, we can infer that Research in psychology is very crucial and
there are many ways that we can go about this in the field.
 For example, in the Big Bang Theory, Sheldon conditions his friend by
giving her chocolate to positively reinforce her for tasks he wants her to 2

Learning Objective:
 Complete the handout activity to further develop the
mentees understanding of principles of scientific thinking
 To discuss the answers as a group and identify which
concepts they are struggling with

Participatory Activity:
 I will distribute a handout to each mentee to complete,
including True or False questions and some multiple 15
choice. minutes
 Additionally, I will distribute cue cards with specific terms
from the reading that can be applied to everyday life - Stress ball
scenarios. designated
 The mentees will take one cue card each with a given term, to pay
and they are to engage this term with any anecdote, attention
personal experience, example, drawing or they can even to the
relate it to a movie. holder
 The goal is to get the mentees to engage with the content - Cue cards
outside of classroom boundaries and expand to think - Handout
about the content by engaging it further.

- We will overview the most commonly shared and incorrect
answers from the handout together and explore different
ways of remembering key words.
- Each mentee pair will be able to pick a question and explain
the answer to some detail to the rest of the group, including
personal examples or anecdotes

- We will reflect on the activity as a group.
- I will encourage the mentees to share their thoughts on the
completed activity to adjust to their learning styles.
