SELLING U.S. PEANUTS IN JAPAN – The American Peanut Council is already making progress in promoting U.S. peanuts
in Japan. An article about American peanuts was featured in The Nikkei, the world’s largest financial newspaper. The story, titled
“American Peanuts Expected to Increase Exports to Japan” included excerpts from an interview of Stephanie Grunenfelder, APC’s
Senior Vice-President, which was conducted as part of the launch of APC’s new consumer promotion campaign.
The article highlighted the benefits of American peanuts as compared to other origins and also mentioned the new U.S.-
Japan Trade Agreement, which is expected to improve market access for the U.S. peanut industry. Daily circulation for The Nikkei
exceeds three million copies in Japan, compared to 2.6 million for The Wall Street Journal in the United States. The article was also
widely seen by members of the Japanese peanut trade and has already resulted in one new trade lead for high-value U.S. peanut
products. FYI, the peanut exports to Japan for January through September, totaled 14,065 Metric Tons, down from the 15,150 MT last
year, that’s about $26 million, a 4% share of the U.S. exports.

information may be obtained from CCC’s catalog listing.

LOSS IN PEANUT FAMILY – We are saddened to report the death of Gregory Wayne Sayer, age 50, of Fitzgerald, GA. He was the
son of Wayne Sayer and Willene Wright Sayer. Gregory was the owner/operator of Shann Peanut Company in Ambrose, GA.
Funeral services were Wednesday December 4. Sims Funeral Home, Douglas, GA was in charge of arrangements.
