Reflection Paper

In my English 121 class, I have learned various techniques in writing english essays since

the beginning of the semester. These techniques have really helped me to become a better writer

and make my essays complete. Another thing that has helped me with my writing is the handouts

we receive and the writing journals we write every Friday. These have really helped me because

the more I write, I believe that my writing gets better and better with each assignment. We were

given handouts to help us as well as peer reviews that benefitted me. The skills I've learned have

really benefited me in writing essays for other classes I have, and they will continue helping me

for the rest of college for anything I need to write.

When I first began Ms. Litle’s class, I used to write run-on sentences that would weaken

my writing. However, through writing more essays as the semester has gone by I have been able

to practice and fix my sentences. Also through doing peer reviews I was able to fix my mistakes.

Before, I used to write very long sentences with no end. However, now I have learned to add

more periods and commas as I write to make my essays flow better. When I look back at my

paper 4, I can now compare it and see how much my writing has improved. This paper is a

review on my paper 4 with my professor Ms. Litle. She helped me revise my paper by giving me

useful comments and gave me positive feedback on how to perfect my paper. She did this by

adding useful notes for me to fix my mistakes and she explained to me in detail how to revise

what I did wrong. She gave me constructive criticism to help me. She allowed me to fix what I

did wrong which also benefited me to learn from my mistakes and to do the best. My writing has

progressed a great amount due to practicing and Ms. Litle’s guidance helping me revise my

essays and papers.

Along with improving my run-on sentences and Ms. Litle’s peer reviews, another aspect

that helped me were the handouts. These handouts have helped me with my English 122 paper

reflection. This handout allowed me to identify mistakes I’ve made in my paper and make it the

best it can be. She pointed out issues that I made such as repeating myself, my sentence level

errors and she put many comments within my essay to help me improve. Looking back at her old

notes has helped me to see the same mistakes that I make in my writing. Sometimes when

writing a new essay, I would go back and look at the notes she left me on previous essays in

order to not repeat those mistakes again. This was very beneficial to my writing to help me

improve and to learn from my mistakes.

As I continue on with college, I will be mindful of all the things I learned over the

semester in English 121 in order to keep improving my writing. This semester in english has

helped develop my writing and has helped me become a better student overall.
