Chapter 5: Edward’s point of view

Jazz and I walked up to the guy that had the captain’s jersey on.
“Hey guys! What can I do for you? I’m Jake.” The captain said.
“I’m Edward and this is Jasper. We’re new here and we were
wondering if we could try out for the team?” I asked him.
“Yeah sure one sec,” he said before running to the bench to get a
clipboard.
“Okay I’ll need your first and last names and your grade.” He told
us.
“I’m Edward Cullen, tenth grade.” I replied.
“I’m Jasper Cullen, also tenth grade.” Jasper said.
“Okay. Go grab some pads off the bench and do the warm-ups
with the rest of the guys, then we’ll get to your tryouts.”
While I was walking over to the bench I heard Jake call someone
over.
“Yo Seth!” Jake yelled.
“Yes Mr. Boss man, Captain, Sir?” Seth said laughing on his way
over to Jake.
“HAHA very funny. I’ve got two tryouts to do after warm ups so
you get to run the practice today,” Jake commanded.
“Alright man,” Seth said then went back to warm-ups.
 We quickly changed into a set of pads and a jersey, and then
started warm-ups with the rest of the guys.
After warm-ups Seth took over the team while Jake watched our
tryouts. Jasper fell once while I didn’t fall at all.
I walked over to the bench and changed back into my old clothes.
As I was walking back towards Jazz I tripped when I noticed the head
cheerleader.
Jazz was talking to Emmett and Jake and they all turned to look at
me. I quickly jumped up and made my way over to them.
Jazz was the one to ask the question. “Hey Eddy why’d ya trip?”
“I was lost in thought,” I replied in a tone that dropped the subject.
“Who’s the head cheerleader?” I asked no one in particular.
“Dude that’s my sister, Bella.” Emmett answered me.
“Oh is she a senior?” I asked trying to just sound curious.
Jake was the one to answer me this time. “Nah, she’s a sophomore
just like Emmett and I.”
“Oh,” was all I could say. I actually had a chance with this
beautiful girl.
My thoughts were interrupted when I heard Jake yell “Hey Babe,”
over towards the cheerleaders.
Bella turned and blew him a kiss before announcing practice was
over.
She skipped over towards us and Jake met her half way, picking
her up and spinning her around.
 “Jake put me down,” I heard her laugh.
Jake stopped spinning her and loosened his arms. She did a back
flip out of his arms which really surprised me.
She walked over to Emmett and gave him a high-five.
“How was practice big bro?” She asked.
“Alright, but it’s about to get really fun now!” He said with an evil
grin on his face.
“No Emmett d…” Before she could finish Emmett picked her up
and slung her over his shoulder and started running.
“Jakey please help me!” She yelled while bouncing on Emmett’s
shoulder.
“Emmett why do we always play this game after practice?” Jake
asked as he started running towards Emmett and Bella.
“Cause its fun,” Emmett shouted in between laughs.
“Be ready to catch me.” I saw Bella mouth to Jake.
Then she whispered something in his ear and his face showed one
emotion; horror. He froze and dropped her but before she hit the ground
Jake caught her.
Jake set Bella on her feet and called Seth.
Seth came running over and they carried a still frozen Emmett
towards us.
“Two questions, one, why is Emmett frozen and two, how did you
know that was going to happen?” I asked Bella when she was in front of
me.
 “Easy” she replied. “We do the same thing every day. As for the
first question it’s a secret you’ll have to ask Emmet, oh and by the way,
I’m Bella Jake’s girlfriend.” She said extending her hand.
I shook her hand and told her my name was Edward. Then Jazz
introduced himself.
I heard her tell Jazz that she met our sister, Rose at cheer practice
and she thinks that she’ll make the team. She said it was because she
was captain and just knew those kinds of things.
I was too busy lost in thought. She had a boyfriend. The only girl
I ever want, I can’t have because Jake and her are going out. They’ve
probably know each other for a while because they are all lovey-dovey.
It makes me sick.
I finally came out of my thoughts to notice a pixie looking girl
talking to Emmett. Jazz was starring at her like she was the only person
in the world. I wonder who she is. She hugged Emmett and jumped up
to give him a kiss on the cheek before running away.
I walked up to Emmett and had to ask. “Hey dude, who was that?
Your girlfriend?”
‘No that’s my little sister Alice,” he said.
“Oh just wondered,” I said walking away and over to Jazz.
“Was that Emmett’s girlfriend?” Jasper asked solemnly.
“No that’s his sister, Alice,” I said slowly wondering why he was
so sad.
“Oh,” he immediately perked up and I realized Jazz likes Alice.
“Awww Jazzy poo has a crush on Alice.” I said in a baby voice.
 “I do not,” He screamed. I looked at him in disbelief. Finally he
told me the truth. “Fine I do,” he replied with a huff.
“Hey maybe Emmett can hook you two up,” I said poking him in
the shoulder.
I didn’t even realize Jake was sitting on the bench and Bella was
straddling him. They were making out! They were practically doing it
right there!!!
I cleared my throat but they didn’t break their kiss. He just picked
her up and started walking towards the parking lot. He stopped at a
green Volkswagen beetle, which must have been hers. He set her in the
driver’s seat and got into the passenger seat. Then they quickly pulled
out and left. Sometime while I was day dreaming Emmett walked up
behind me.
“Get used to it dude. They’re always like that, even at home,”
Emmett said.
“Home?” I asked very confused now. Were they living together?
“Jake practically lives at our house. He stays over night in my
room all the time. My parents are really good friends with his dad and
Alice and I don’t mind ’cause he’s one of our best friends,” he replied
like it was nothing.
“Oh,’ was all I managed to get out. Great! They’re living
together! Now I have no chance with her!
