HOW CUSTOMERS DECIDE WHETHER TO BUY FROM YOUR WEBSITE

Trust is a critical factor in the online purchasing decision of the consumers. Sometimes
lack of trust is the fundamental reason why some consumers won’t purchase items or services
from online stores. I agree with the author that trust is very important because trust plays a very
important role of human interactions. It includes cooperation, network relations to the crisis
management. It is also the valued ingredient in the society which is becoming more and more
networked. Willingness to transact on the Internet can be said to be called “Internet trust”. If the
consumer actually goes through the transaction, then the consumer is said to take the risk. Trust
is a state of mind and a willingness to assume risk, which is very different from actual behavior of
already assuming the risk.

The part of the article which struck me the most is the trust issues about buying items
online. There may be a number of reasons why online shopping is perceived to be risky. First,
there is lack of opportunity to examine the goods before buying. Consumers just choose what
they like to buy online and pay it instantly. Second, consumers may also fear that the product that
they bought online may not be delivered to the address at the right time. Third, trust needs to
develop and both parties must be given a chance to know each other. Thus, any trust online must
address these issues in order to become effective.

I used to buy stuffs online. Like my case, sandals, shirts, etc. I usually use Lazada and
Shopee because they offer products at a very low price. The first item that I bought online is a
shirt. At first, I have doubt that the item won’t be delivered on time. The reason why I ordered that
shirts is because I need it for my Christmas party. The item would be shipped 1-3 days after I
order it. I was nervous because it might not be delivered on the said day. But after 2 days, I was
so happy because the item already arrived and it is the same item that I saw. I am very satisfied
with the item because I got the item without any damage.

I am of opinion that shopping online brings people a number of benefits. First, shopping
online allows consumers to browse for products and checking prices between these online shops.
Second, buying things on the Internet helps people save a great deal of time. That is to say, since
people nowadays are often so caught up with work and study, shopping online is a wise choice
which doesn't require them to go the stores. With a click of mouse, they can buy the things they
need and the shippers will deliver their products to customers as soon as possible. Third, since
there is a high demand of buying things online, many people can realize their dream of starting
up their own business and achieve success in the long run. This can be seen as a positive trend
because it creates good job opportunities for people and thereby help people to improve their
income and well-being. This also contributes to boosting the economy of a nation in general. In
conclusion, although buying things on the Internet exerts some adverse aspects, the advantages
can justify these.
