Next Gen Bonus employee eligibility for FY19 is dependent on the below factors:
Payout structure
Payout amount The Next Gen bonus amount is standardized for each career level. For a
given career level, the payout is the same for all, irrespective of skill/
proficiency level.
Frequency of The Next gen bonus is a quarterly payout that happens in the last month
payout of the quarter. For the period Dec’18 to Feb’19, payout will be in Feb’19.
The subsequent payouts will be in May’19, Aug’19 and Nov’19.

Q. What is a Next Gen bonus?
• Rewards business critical and niche skills, which are determined based on objective metrics of – ability to
fulfil demands, ability to hire from market, ability to retain
• Skills that are eligible for Next Gen Bonus get signed off by the leadership.
• Next Gen program is a quarterly payout model. The payout will be at the end of the quarter. (February, June,
August, November)
Q. What is the eligibility criterion for getting Next Gen skill bonus?
• Primary Skill as per myCompetency report (should be next gen skill)
• Career level (level 11 to level 8)
• Tenure at a level (level 11 should complete 12 months at the level at the time of review)
• All Talent actions except Improve performance are eligible
Q. Do I have to be deployed on the same skill I am receiving Next Gen bonus or any Next Gen
skill in that year?
• You must be deployed on any Next Gen skill (specific to the year) for at least 45 days in last 3 months to receive
payout for that quarter.
Q. My RRD skill is not same as my primary skill which is eligible for Next Gen Bonus. How can
I get it updated?
• If you are deployed on your primary skill in the current project, you can request your project
manager/supervisor for getting the skill updated on RRD.
• In case you are not deployed on your primary skill within the project, please reach out to your project
manager for relevant opportunities within the project or if you can be reassigned to another project where
you can use your primary skill.
Q. My skill on RRD (Resource Requirement Detail) tool is changed post the quarter payout,
my supervisor made the changes now. Since I missed the payout, will I get arrears paid in
next quarter?
• Back dated changes will not be considered for quarterly checks. Your project managers are informed well in
advance on the change in the guidelines. For more details please reach out to your project
manager/supervisor
Q. What career levels are covered in the Next Gen skill bonus.
• Career levels covered under Next Gen Skill Bonus program are 11, 10, 9 and 8. However, 12 to 11 promotes/
level 11 new joiners need to gain 12 months of experience as level 11 and build expertise in the skills to be
eligible for Next Gen skill bonus.
E.g. Employee with DOJ 10th Apr’18 at level 11 will not be offered Next Gen bonus while hiring. This employee will
not be eligible for Dec’18 review as well. Employee will be eligible only if he completes one year by Jun’19 (Mid-year
review) / Dec’19 (Annual review)
Q. Do different career levels get different payout for next gen skills?
• Yes, the Next gen bonus amount is differentiated by career level. However, the bonus amount is standardized
for each career level.
Q. How is my Next Gen skill bonus payout linked to myCompetency Assessment Process?
• Your primary skill should be eligible for Next Gen bonus for that year.
• The cut-off date varies every year. For Next Gen plan effective Dec 18, the cut-off date was June 30th, 2018.
• Proficiency doesn’t determine the payout. However, we encourage you to take assessment.
• If the assessment is not available for the Next Gen eligible skill during the review period, employees tagged
to those skills will be eligible for the bonus.
Q. I am a new joiner and have not taken the competency assessment. Am I eligible for Next
Gen skill bonus? If yes, at what proficiency?
In case you have been hired on a skill which is eligible for Next Gen skill bonus program, you would have
been communicated about the eligibility at the time of hiring. You will receive Next Gen skill bonus each
quarter as per the payout guidelines of the program. You will receive a detailed communication on
myCompetency Program, which will provide you information and guidance about your next assessment cycle
and the linkage to Next Gen skill bonus applicability.
Q. I got promoted to CL7 now, will I continue to get next gen bonus?
Managers are not eligible for Next Gen bonus. FAQs are accessible only for eligible levels.
Q. Will my Next Gen bonus change basis Talent Action along with base pay??
No, Next Gen bonus is a fixed amount, irrespective of Talent action (Improve performance are not eligible)
for a level. If you are eligible for Next Gen even in the next year, you will receive the same amount (if you are
a promote, you will receive amount as per the next level)
Q. I moved to GCP this quarter how will my Next Gen Bonus be determined?
Once employee moves on GCP he/she become ineligible to receive the next gen bonus. For that quarter, the
payout will be prorated.
Q. I have hardly seen any increase since my Next Gen Skill Bonus dropped off. There is hardly
any monetary motivation for me.
Next Gen Skill bonus isn't a guaranteed component of salary stack. There will be no total cash protection
done for people moving out of Next Gen program (e.g. if in FY18, a Next Gen skill ceases to qualify the
program, payout will stop for these people with no additional benefit included). Plan is linked to demand
supply situation of the skill and can be withdrawn with no further cash protection done
Q. Where can one view the list of Skills taken off and part of Next Gen skills program?
You can ask DiPA to know if your skill is eligible for Next Gen or not for that year
Q. My Next Gen bonus has been taken off effective 1 Dec and I’m seeing a decrease in my
salary, what is the reason?
Next Gen bonus rewards skills which are seeing acute demand supply gap and this list of skills keeps
changing year on year based on business priorities and market realities. Your skill will no more be eligible for
the new year hence the bonus has been withdrawn.
Q. My DOJ is 25th Jun’18 and I was offered Next Gen skill bonus when I joined. Will I receive
next gen skill bonus from Dec’18?
You’ll continue to get the bonus till Nov’19 and any employee joined from 1st May’18 till 20th Oct’18 will
continue to receive Next gen bonus offered during their hiring even if the skill is no more next gen in FY19.
Q. I did not have any assessment available on MyCompetency though my primary skill is
tagged as Next Gen. Will I receive payout?
Yes, if your skill is tagged as Next Gen and if the assessment was not available for the current cycle then you
would be eligible for the bonus
Q. I was not able to change my skill to a Next Gen skill, as there was some tool issue, will I
lose Next Gen bonus?
Only employees tagged to Next Gen skill as their Primary skill (as per myCompetency of June 30) will be
considered eligible for the bonus subject to meeting other criteria on level and tenure.
Q. Since myCompetency is a real-time process, I have now changed my skill to a next gen
skill, from when will I start getting the bonus?
The Next Gen review happens annually based on the data driven metrics of demand, supply, retention and
get reviewed and signed off by Leadership. Employees meeting all criteria as of certain date will have
received Next Gen bonus letter in Dec. Other employees who may be tagged to these skills later in the year
will not be included during the year.
Q. I have selected an incorrect skill by mistake, can I make the change now and start
receiving next gen bonus?
No, employee skill tagging as of June 30 on myCompetency has been considered to be part of the Next Gen
program
Q. I have selected a Next Gen skill under my secondary skill list but I am not getting the
bonus, why?
Next Gen is applicable based on Primary skill of the employee.
Q. I was receiving Next gen skill bonus till last quarter, I will be travelling to GCP by end of
this quarter, will I be eligible for Next Gen Bonus for this quarter?
Yes, if employee is working on the Next Gen skill for half the number of days he spends Offshore in that
quarter.
Q. What is the source for employee skill information?
Employee skill information for Next Gen bonus review has been taken as per Mycompetency assessment
primary skill.
EX: If your DOJ is 4th Apr’18 at level 11, you will not be eligible for bonus eff Dec’18 even if your skills is Next
Gen. You will be eligible for Next Gen bonus in Dec’19 if your primary skill as on June 30th ’19 is eligible for
Next Gen for that year
Q. Who will be the point of contact for employees for queries / grievance on updating skill as
currently normal skill change is done on myCompetency tool?
