God the Righteous Creator
In the beginning, God created... - Genesis 1:1
The Bible explains that the Triune God is the first and greatest
of all beings. He is the source of the cosmos and all that is with-
in it. As Creator, he sustains and cares for his creation. He has
given mankind commandments to live by; for all are created to
love, serve, and enjoy him forever. By his nature he is completely
pure, being perfect in knowledge, holiness, and righteousness.
He hates all aspects of rebellion which he declares to be works
of evil. God holds mankind responsible to love and worship him
as well as to love one another, living a life that is in accord with
what he has declared to be right.

If we say we have no sin, we deceive ourselves - 1 John 1:8
Instead of living a life of love and worship towards God, all of
mankind naturally live in rebellion against him. They wilfully trans-
gress God’s law, living a life that produces nothing but works of evil.
God knows every thought, word, and deed of man; rightly hold-
ing everyone accountable for their actions. As God has revealed,
mankind is in a state of perishing being declared as his unrighteous
enemy. Everyone is under God’s condemnation being found
guilty, being sentence to endure his eternal wrath; a punish-
ment rightly deserved because of their continued state of sinful
rebellion.

However there is good news — the gospel! Though all of
men are sinners rightly deserving hell, God in his great love and
mercy has provided the means for forgiveness. The Lord Jesus
Christ — sent Son of God — lived the required sinless life on
behalf of mankind. With that, he willingly took upon himself the
required wrath of God and death (the wages of sin) by being
executed on a cross. Three days later Jesus Christ rose from the
grave having fully paid the penalty of sin and death, providing
the promised eternal life for all his people.

Repent and believe in the gospel - Mark 1:15
Everyone is commanded to repent and believe in Christ for
salvation, for without this act, there is no redemption. Howev-
er, this is something mankind cannot do unless God provides
the way. God lovingly gives the gift of saving grace to those
who he chooses, enabling that person to repent and believe.
With this gift that leads to life, is the true realization of one’s
rebellion against God, a grief and hatred of sin, and a clear
understanding of God’s mercy offered in Christ. The corrupt
heart is changed resulting in want and effort to strive in obedi-
ence to him. But this act of repentance is not alone! At the same
time the gift of faith is given, whereby the unbeliever is now
able to receive and rests upon Jesus Christ alone for salvation.
