1. How can you transfer this experience into your future classroom?
I can utilize the digital learning competency activities in my future classroom by
implementing some of my ideas into my instruction and using the technology tools to teach my students. Technology is always growing and changing and can be used as a major resource for student learning when used properly. I think that the best thing that I can provide in my future classroom is to use the new tools I have gained from this digital learning competency and remain open-minded as more tools are created and can be used in my future classroom as resources for my students. 2. How did creating a digital product help you develop technology and content skills? Creating a digital product forced me to think about some of the details that factor into creating a digital product. Developing a digital product is not just about using technology but how to use technology effectively, responsibly, and creatively in my future classroom. It also makes you think about the time it takes to effectively incorporate different content standards into the technology activities that you plan out for your classroom. 3. When you implement this digital product in a future classroom, how will you handle equity issues (students who do or do not have access to technology) and how will you differentiate for students with different skill levels and English Language Learners? I would allow students to work in groups on the assignment so that they can share electronic devices that have access to Quizlet. I would also make sure that this is an in- class activity and not something that students would have to learn outside of the classroom. For students with different skill levels, I would make sure that they would have opportunities to ask questions and work with stronger students by mixing up the skill levels within each group. I have also considered with English Language Learners including translations of the activity questions for them in order to aid in their success in understanding the math concepts. 4. What did you discover about yourself throughout this project? I discovered that I have a lot to learn when it comes to learning how to incorporate different types of technology tools in my classroom. I feel that overall math is a tough subject to utilize technology in because it does not provide for as many creative outlets as the other subjects and that it takes a lot of time to understand which tools are suitable for math comprehension. I learned that I need to spend more time researching different types of tools to use in my classroom in order to appeal more to my student population. Something else I realized is that I was not exposed to as many digital tools in my schooling as this generation of students is being exposed to in their classrooms. So, incorporating digital tools is not always my first priority because they were not used in my learning.
