REFLECTION OF CHEMISTRY
My Chemistry Learning Experience

Chemistry involves studying the components of matter, properties, how they behave, and

structure. Matter refers to compounds made up of ions, atoms, and molecules. It brings

together many aspects of other branches of science. The study of chemistry helps a student

gain a comprehension of combining and separating elements of matter and the results, how

each component behaves or interacts with other items under different circumstances. As a

Chemistry student, this paper aims to explain the benefits I have accrued from taking a course

in Chemistry.

One of the primary purposes of studying chemistry is in pursuit of knowledge of the world

around me. Chemistry can get derived from our surroundings. The food we eat, the water we

drink, the air we breathe, the medicine we take, and the cleaning supplies we buy are all

explained by chemistry as a science. It is necessary to understand our surroundings. This

new-found knowledge of my environment from Chemistry has equipped me to answer

common questions. I can now also avoid unnecessary accidents like mild fires or poisoning

incidents.

Another attribute I have acquired from taking a class in science is an understanding of my

body. The study of living things, Biology, interconnects with Chemistry. The study of

elements of matter gives an understanding of what is useful or harmful to the body. Some

ingredients in the food and drinks we consume are more dangerous than beneficial to the

body. My application of Chemistry in deciding what to consume has helped to lower possible

health hazards caused by ignorance. Since I began taking this class, my decisions during

shopping have been well calculated and informed. Some knowledge of Chemistry is

applicable in the selection of medicine that is not prescribed by a doctor. Different medicine

has different compositions based on the purpose and intended user. It is vital to understand

these compositions and their possible effects on our bodies before any consumption.

REFLECTION OF CHEMISTRY
Studying Chemistry has also expanded my career options. Chemistry as science has an

underlying promise of job opportunities. Contrary to popular belief, there is more to

Chemistry than being a Chemist in a laboratory. Career opportunities in chemistry involve

pharmacology, geochemistry, analytical chemistry, teaching, forensic science, material

science, among others. Vast knowledge of Chemistry will, therefore, build a professional

future for me. Since I began taking this class, I have widened my occupation options. Skills

learned in Chemistry are also applied in other fields of work. The knowledge of this science

is, therefore, applicable in other areas.

From this class, I have come to realize that science can be fun. The opportunities to carry out

experiments have shown me that science is not monotonous. Unlike other courses, Chemistry

involves not only theoretical learning but also practical applications. This visual aspect is

what makes the process of learning Chemistry more interesting. I have gained an overall

appreciation of science.

Chemistry, as a science, has taught me a lot about what surrounds me. I have acquired a new

understanding of how to live my day to day life while putting my environment under

sufficient consideration. The comprehension of Chemistry has also given me the skills I

require to stay away from avoidable harm, such as fire breakouts. It is, therefore,

recommendable for everybody to take a course in Chemistry despite their career path.
