I really love the content of the lesson. All three stories are very fun to
listen to or view for elementary school students. My only concern is since
this lesson is about listening and speaking, and this specific activity’s
focus is on listening, students might read the provided text instead of
focusing on listening. It might be better to have stories with audio only for
most students and those who have hearing impairment can get access to
the version that has subtitles.
At the Now Practice section, there could be more questions added for
each story. These questions could emphasize different listening scopes.
For example, one questions is to assess if students understand the main
idea, one question is to assess if students paid attention to details of the
story, etc. This way, students could have more opportunities to practice
listening skills. It could provide more scaffolding before the final
assignment.
It is great that the teacher asked the students to think about what is
listening and speaking on their own first. Then provided information for
them to know more about these two skills. It would be even better if there
is a closure discussion about what is listening and speaking after
students have explored more materials. This could help students better
understand what they have learned/read regarding the two concepts.
I requested to change from view to edit version for the Type It Down
assignment. It would be easier for the students and parents if it had been
set it up as “students can edit the file” and “each student have a copy”
when designing this activity on GC. If the teacher would like to keep the
original file as view only. It would be better to give more detailed
instructions as some parents might not be very technical like me. For
instance: Once you open Type It Down, click file and click make a copy.

Change the file name as xxx (your name) Type It Down.

Moreover, it might be better to set up due dates for the
activities/assignments. This could help the teacher, students and parents
to keep on track of the lesson and track the works/lesson easily.
Overall, I think it is a very age-appropriate lesson with interesting content
and assignments for students to engage with divergent thinking.
